Is it possible to turn down the number of fouls called in scrimmages? Players and refs seem to think these scrimmages are the NBA finals, when we really just want to get some backup and trainees some minutes.

One possible way to solve this would be to use the HT model of a "normal" scrimmage and a "cup rules" scrimmage. The normal could be nerfed to reduce fouling and injuries, where the cup rules would have the same possibility of fouls/injuries as an average league/cup/PO game...

Scrimmages are official training matches, and should be played with the official rules. i do not agree to remove the fouls.

I wasn't suggesting the rules of basketball be changed, just the intensity of the players performance should be lower, as the game really does not matter. It's an unofficial match used for training.

friednly matches doesn't mean that they are non-official. They are used for training, but they are still official. if players play hard, they are called with fouls, technical penalties and so on. Players can get hurt and injured in training and in friendlies games. The players have to try to show their abilities, especially these who don't play in the championship game, so i think that its just fine.

At least, this is my opinion.

Okay... Just going to have to agree to disagree with you there.

--The statistics your players put up in scrimmages don't count. Your point guard throws together a 65 point game and a rating of 9.5*? Too bad, doesn't count whatsoever toward his career stats. None of it.
--In scrimmages, whether a team wins or loses has no effect on thats team's record. You can win every single scrimmage you play but if you lose all your league games, you get relegated (and probably lose season ticket holders)

That sound pretty non-official to me. But then again, that's just my opinion.

I think the best way to think of this is, unless players are playing their hardest (and thereby fouling and getting fouled), they won't be benefiting fully from the extra day of training.

That said, we'll certainly consider your suggestion at our next group meeting. We very much appreciate your constructive thoughts on the matter.
