What are your guys thoughts on the nets trading for Deron Williams? They gave away Harris, Favors and some draft picks. I don't know why they did this considering Williams is a free agent after this season. Its not like their gonna make the playoffs this year.

It'll look very dumb if he leaves, but pretty smart if he stays to be the face of the new Brooklyn franchise. I'd have to assume they have a plan to keep him, otherwise why would they do it?

(Plus, now's the time for dumb trades, since the Knicks make anyone else look like a genius by comparison.)

I like it.
Roll the dice, Harris wanted out fast and I am pretty sure that Prokhorov can be pretty convincing. I'd bet you that the facilities in Brooklyn are amongst the best in the association, and he will spare no expense to make this team a contender.
As pissed about it now as Deron Williams is, I'll bet he stays with them.

They must have come to some long term agreement with Williams, right? Otherwise, they're just really dumb.

Firstly, no. They didn't.

Secondly, why 'dumb'? Guy has a year and a half left on his contract. And I have no doubts that Prokhorov can be VERY persuasive.
And if it works for them... they got an elite point for a guy you'd describe as "pretty good" and a prospect, rather than trade half the team. Seems like a very good roll of the dice for my money.
