Has anyone actually done it? How slow is it? Is it worth it at all?

My situation is my favourite player is:

Oliver Ðuričko (11263596) Shooting Guard
Weekly salary: $ 29 664
Age: 23
Height: 6'3" / 190 cm
Potential: allstar

According to the salary calculator version 1.1 he is already looking at a salary of around $35,000 next season and a JS pop is just around the corner taking him to $38,000. As an all-star under the old salary scale he should be able to get to between $43-65,000, but he must be getting close to the cap.

I only know of one player who kept training a guy once he capped and he said in 2/3 of a season of training he didn't get a single pop at age 21. and then he gave in and stopped.

Oliver is old, he is near his cap but I would really like to get him just 3 more specific pops before I consider him "finished". How bad can it be? If it will take an entire season for one pop then I will have to forget it.

depends on the skills you want to train. From what I've heard, hitting the cap doubles he necessary training time. so one or two pops migh be worth it even if it's harder to do.

what would his oldschool salary be once finished?

If Dell'Asta still pops 4-5 times a season at 24, Duricko is still worth training :)

Hey Yoda

I have tried it before where I trained a capped player. I had a C that was capped. He was 22 years old and I was doing 2 pos training. He did not pop at all that season. I ended up giving up, selling him and used the cash to buy another trainee.

So simple conclusion: it is not worth training a player once you know he is capped.

Also, remember that the cap is based on how many skill points the player has and not salary, so the salary estimate scale is very off if you have a more rounded player.
