After reading through threads and thinking of some ideas myself, here are some possible ideas to make the all-star game more enjoyable

1) Rookie Game and Slam Dunk Contest
2) One on One, Two on Two, or Three on Three Contest
3) Human Managers (this can be done without seeing the skills of the players)
4) Grrr, I had a really good one but I forgot it :p

I thought I could have more, but I guess not. Anyone else with ideas, please say them here.

1) Rookie game is never a plausible option when in the top leagues when there are less than 5 players that are actually kept on the team that drafted them. Most of the players are sacked before they even play a single game You won't even get 5. let alone 10 players for a game.

Dunk contest just doesn't seem to add much value...you can't have a dunk contest and just read lines..on what your player just did..Its not fun at all.

2) Why not just go 5 on 5 and have the proper all star game?

3) Probably the best suggestion of the bunch. If some human element can influence player selection without being able to see player skills or have manager bias to their own team, then I am all for it. Also, being able to select tactics for the game would be fun.

4) How about I replace this with my suggestion:
Change the GE of the all star game to the NT GE. Every game has scores like 150 points per team which is way too high. Defence is still played in ASG so it would be good to see defence being factored into the game rather than just seeing who can score the most.

For the GE, maybe the BB's changed it for this year, we don't know yet. But, real NBA All-star Games have no defense at all, so I doubt it will change.

I wouldn't say no defence at all. Simply having someone there marking you (even without challenging a shot) is still defence. Still, games don't get to like 150+ points for each team unless it goes to something like 2OTs.

148-143 this year, not exactly 150 but very close... and you are telling me that in the all-star game engine, players shoot threes with no defenders even standing in front of them?

True. That is rare though.. The scores are usually within the 120-130 range.

Also look at the amount of FTs taken and fouls commited on the teams. In BB ASG GE, there are virtually no fouls at all the whole game and still end up being a 150 point game.

In the real all star game, people still challenge shots, some people even try to block shots, but no-one is going to try and take a charge from Lebron when he is heading to the basket with a full head of steam.

Maybe Buzzer Beater could add exciting color commentary to the match viewer to make it more exciting to watch.

Player A with the steal, goes with a fake behind the back pass, instead lobs it to Player B.....Dunk!!!

I will say quickly my point of view regarding to the ASG in BB.

IRL, ASG is interesting because we see huge stars making huge dunk and alley-oop. But mostly, it's because, we see huge stars. In colors. Moving.

In BB, we see no stars, no dunk, no colors, no movements. To be worth it, at least, we could see a real game to know which conference is the best with real defense. Last season, I skipped the ASG, this season, I will do the same. No interest on it.

So, you don't like it when your keyplayer gets a place on the starting 5 at the ASG? I do..
But I agree. Unfortunately we can't compare a RL ASG to a BB ASG, but it's just part of the game Basketball..

I'd love to see same changes to the ASG too. Maybe a more "visual" look at the 3P contest? Which positions the player scored e.g.
