I think this has been said before, but the game engine should be slightly altered to make shotblocking less useless. As it stands right now, shotblocking really only acts as a kind of stack over the top of the relevant defense. The rebound is still random and if the offensive team gets the ball back, they get a new shot clock.

In an actual basketball game, the blocking team will get a higher percentage of rebounds afterwards because players can either direct the ball to a teammate or maintain possession of the ball themselves after the block. I don't have an exact figure, but I'd guess that depending on the player's shotblocking skill, that player or his team should be given a 15-25% bonus to getting the rebound after a blocked shot.

Additionally, if the original shooting team gets the ball back after a blocked shot, the shot clock should remain at what it was previous to the shot, not revert back to 24. Please make this happen BB's!

Yes, it's strange that this still is running the way it is. Some few experts has mention this before. Time to act?

Older than the rest ...

I don't agree with this, the player who gets his shot blocked will get the rebound more than anyone else on the floor, unless it's a really easy I'm three feet higher than you block like Dwight Howard can perform, the blocker doesn't decide where the tip goes

Another tweak should be made is not to have a player credited with rebound if they grab the ball after the shotblock like in real life. This can also reduce a the excessive rebounding numbers that goes around BB.

my impression (I didn't check real numbers) is that the blocking team gets most of the rebounds, not the attacking team.

I don't know about the shotclock, but if it's in the NBA rules not to reset it, then yes that is something the BBs should reprogram.

I also support the idea that the blocker doesn't realy know where the ball ends up in at least 90% of the cases. It's hard enough blocking a shot, if he could direct it well, it would not be a rebound but a pass.
and if he can control it so well, why isn't he just rebounding it himself every time?

:)

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

However if the original shooting team's shot is blocked two things could happen. 1) shot is blocked into rim which should reset 2) how would it be determined if the blocking team had possession of the blocked shot if so and the shooting team recovered the clock should also reset.

If the ball hits the rim than it could just count as a typical missed shot, even if it may have been blocked partially. Almost all shots that are really blocked with emphasis miss the rim entirely. And the BB's could come up with some % easily enough to determine how often each team gets the ball afterwards.
