What is the best defensive strategy against a strong outside offense (eg run and gun)?

3-2 zone or 1-3-1 zone, depending on your own outside defense and rebounding abilities.

Not outside box and one? Could that one be good if the opponent have one good perimeter scorer?

Yes, but only if you have a very good perimeter defender yourself.

If you think you'll rebound better than your opponent, try 1-3-1. If you think he'll get the better of you on the boards, go with 3-2. If he has only one good outide scorer and you have only one good outside defender, putside box is the right approach.
