so this is just another question to gauge what people think about putting my draft order.

#1 5/4 SF A+ 6'3" 18 yo
#2 4/3 SG B- 6'5" 18 yo
#3 5/2 SG A+ 6'1" 18 yo
#4 4/4 C B+ 6'9" 18 yo
#5 4/3 PF B- 6'3" 18 yo
#6 4/3 PF B- 6'2" 18 yo
#7 4/3 PF B+ 7'1" 18 yo

i want to get a decent guard trainee and possibly sell whatever else. i will be picking last but most teams in my league are bot or very new so i want to take advantage of getting a good draft pick while im in div IV.

any suggestions?

The hardest thing to train for small guards is IS. So #6 & #5 are therefore quite interesting. I would put them at 2, 3 respectively if I were to get guard trainees.
#4 will go for more on TL.
If you 2 pos train #3 could cheer you up for a while, though everyone is saying 2 potential is a no-no.

#4 4/4 C B+ 6'9" 18 yo
#7 4/3 PF B+ 7'1" 18 yo
#2 4/3 SG B- 6'5" 18 yo
#6 4/3 PF B- 6'2" 18 yo
#5 4/3 PF B- 6'3" 18 yo
#3 5/2 SG A+ 6'1" 18 yo

In this order if I were looking to train one and sell the rest.
I think one of the most important things to look for is the potential. Sometimes even a crap hall of famer can be sold for a good price because quite many managers look for potential rather than the actual skills.
Although I put #1 as the first pick because if you happen to get him, he could be a real monster really worth training.

I'm one of those who believe driving layups depend on IS. How do you train it? By playing 6'2 guy at C for 5-6 weeks a pop? So average/respectable IS is quite nice to start out with.

Well if IS was to be trained one position at C, even for players with 6'2, I can't imagine it'd take 5-6 weeks to pop. At the slowest 4 weeks, but it would probably be 2-3 weeks. If IS is trained when they're 18, it pops quite fast.
And given that their current position is PF, you can never tell if the guard skills are atrocious or not. If the guard skills were atrocious, the player is then worthless. So it's too risky imo.

The point is you don't wanna spend ANY time training IS, certainly not trade 2 OD pops for 1 IS pop. The fact that they're PFs rather than Cs mean they at least have some JS.
People usually start guard trading with OD, so by the playoff time, you could have a player who can hold his own.
I'm glad not everyone shares my views, cause it makes it cheaper for me to find trainee prospects.

I'm not gonna argue much because everybody has his/her own way. But the fact that his PF could signify that he has some JS, but to be a good guard, it takes more than a good JS and there's a chance that his OD, JR etc could be really low. If that was the case, the draftee would be useless (not 100% useless but most managers would sell him etc). So I personally wouldn't risk it.

So... You'd rather train OD from atrocious instead of IS from atrocious...

Right.

Well lucky for me I have a SF/PF, but let me add that my guard McArtur has stupendous driving and very little IS, and makes layups quite successfully.

OD and JR are the worst skills to train on taller guys, my guy Dell'Asta started with inept OD, he can now guard pretty much any PG/SG in top divisions, took me 28 weeks to train those levels...

My opinion is take the SF.

A SF with atrocious IS is ok, you can train it up to proficient/prominent and he'll still be useful. A good SF without at least tremendous+ OD is useless in higher divisions, and trust me, you don't want to train OD to tremendous from atrocious... Ever.
