Hi
I'll be putting my hand up this season to coach the Australian U21 NT.
I've been heavily involved in the U21 National Team for around 6 seasons now, having had 3 players represent the U21 National Team during that time, one of whom (hopefully two soon - Come on Direwolf!) has moved onto the Senior National Team. I feel that with my experience in training U21 candidates that I have a very firm grasp on training in all positions, from PG through to C.
I am a huge believer in training for success, and this is the path that I have chosen for my team, with the core of my team being all young and trained by myself, and it has brought me all the way to the ABBL.
One of the key responsibilities of being an U21 coach is to ensure that all our young talent are mentored and trained well. Whilst it is also important to win games, my belief is that the focus should be on ensuring all young players and managers are given some TLC to ensure they reach their potential, whether or not they make the U21. This will ensure that these managers are properly equipped with the training knowledge for future prospects, and hopefully those prospects can move through the U21 NT onto the Senior National Team.
I look forward to a lively debate thread..
