We're a 3rd of the way through season 16 and about to head into the cross over games. I thought this would be as good a time as any to post an update on the current awards race, so here we go.
'What's Pass' Award - Geoff Bulewski [CRU] is currently looking very strong on the scoring leader board with 29.9ppg and 5ppg ahead of the rest of the field. Geoff is doing his thing but unfortunately receiving literally no help offensively from the rest of his team. Alan Bull is the only other Laker currently in the top 50ppg, way down in position 46 with 12.4ppg.
'Glass Polishing' Award - Ednélson Nascimento [DOW] sits a top of the rebounding ladder at this point with a worthy 18.4rpg. No other player has been able to hold an average above 15rpg and the big Brazilian doesn't look like letting up any time soon.
'Dish Delish' Award - Narcís Gràcia [MMM] has been busy this season, dishing out dimes to his team mates. With an average of 7.9apg the Moose will be very happy with his Spanish import's contribution so far. My very own Martin Holicky is the only other player that is sustaining over 7apg but his numbers may start to dwindle, with my new PG expected to hit the court in the next week.
'My Precioussss' Award - Peter Igelborg [VIO] has been very busy on the defensive end this season, managing to pinch 2.9spg through out the 7 games played so far. If he can hold that pace it will be difficult for anyone to catch him, considering last year's winner (Anthony Cima) finished the season with an average of only 1.7spg. There are a number of players currently on or just over 2spg, so anything can happen from here.
'Not in My House' Award - Božo Vasilić [VIO] the two time defending MVP champion currently holds the lead in the rejection leader board. I think Andrew Bogut would be happy with the 2.8bpg that the big Bosnian has put up, even if Mutumbo might scoff. Bozo's number 1 MVP rival Ky Smeltz sits just behind him on 2.3bpg and won't shy from this challenge.
'Got Clutz'Award - Yeoh Ying Long [LAZ] probably isn't doing his team's current position on the ladder any favors by throwing away an average of 3.6topg. It probably also explains why he found himself on the trade market recently and is making his way in a new team as we speak. Haggards Lawrence Harvey is the next in line for the "throne" with 3.3topg.
'Bruiser' Award - Mohd Syamsuri bin Mat Noor [ALL] has dished out the most hurt this season and with a name like that, I can only imagine what other players are saying to fire him up. Mohd has averaged 4.3fpg in 7 games so far this season, I wonder what his injury count is to go along with that stat?
'Workhorse' Award - Antonio Pizzolato [ALL] must have put in a huge preseason because he has played nearly every single minute for his team this season. Currently averaging 47mpg one might wonder how this will effect him later in the season. It must also be noted that the top 3 mpg players all come from Allsorts, rumours are starting about the tyrant in charge of the team and possible cracks within the team's morale.
