There is a pretty cool game out there that I thought many of you might enjoy. DDO, or for you non-nerds Dungeons and Dragons online, is a online MMO that has been around about 6 years. It is free to sign up and about 1/3rd of the content is completely free. You can also pay for modules a piece at a time or go VIP and get all content for 15$ a month. There is enough free content for you to play for months and see if you like the game. There are also in game ways to earn the points you need to use the pay modules.

This game isnt a chat based social event like Everquest. Nor is it a kid friendly oversimplified combat game like WoW. This game is combat intensive with plenty of puzzle solving and slaying. The character creation is completely customizable with near endless focus possibilities and combinations. I have been playing this game over 5 years and quite frankly it is the best game of it's type on the market for those who like a challenge and want to sink there teeth in some complicated combat versus hundreds of different monsters to fight. The graphics are pretty sweet too.

The game is played all over the world and has about 5 languages usable. Sure, it's fun to poke fun at the dorkiness of 'DnD' but for a game that is in large part free and is combat intensive it is worth a look. If you want some help or advice or need some coin or gear join the Ghallanda server and let me know your character name. Dont be scared.

DnD and all things related are awesome, and if you can't grok that, well it's your loss.

Still got my old light blue cover original D&D rulebook. That's going to my son when he's a bit older.

I can't wait till my son tries to take me down a notch; he's only five.

Wait, he already does.

But I got him: read him all about Greek myths and the Minotaur, till he was afraid to go upstairs by himself.

Course, the wife was none too impressed. :)

As the parent of a just-turned-six year old boy, I question the wisdom of any strategic decision that would make said child even less likely (when mathematically possible) to remain in his bed when put there.
