What do match up ratings ratings mean? I know it's how many points the person can score out of 100 shots, but that is just so vague. Is that talking about one on one with his defender? How is zone defense calculated into this? Clearly the types of shots taken are factored in (Big men always have higher matchup ratings normally). Do these ratings factor in things such as assisted shots?
I guess the fact that I don't have my opponent's roster's skills makes it really hard to understand these ratings.
Take this game for example
(32857986)My team, Allied Precise Gunmen (away team) had 3 players with very nice matchup ratings (>135). I can understand why my center did not do that well despite his rating, he obviously did not get the ball in the right spots and might have just had an off night. My SF and PF both shot great FG% (9/10 and 8/12 respectively) but my question is, why didn't they shoot more? They clearly had the matchup advantage and yet most of their shots were assisted (only 12 FGs on my team went unassisted and most of those were by my SG). So why is my SG shooting twice as much as each of the two players who have better matchup ratings and why do these players need passes to finish the play instead of being able to create their own shot?
