It will be horrible for the Cavs if they drafted Irving and Kanter and both turned out to be busts. Irving hardly played this past NCAA season while Kanter did not play. Injuries could be Irving's downfall while for me, Kanter has a high bust probability.
My mock draft:
1. CLE- Kyrie Irving (Sure thing in a draft of uncertainties. Coach Byron Scott loves playing through a PG ala Jason Kidd and Chris Paul)
2. MIN- Derrick Williams (Takes the BPA here. May find a way to trade Michael Beasley)
3. UTA- Brandon Knight(Takes the best available PG after Irving as team lacks a true PG to run the show ala John Stockton and Deron Williams)
4. CLE- Jonas Valanciunas( Cavs takes Valanciunas as he has higher upside and growth potential than Kanter, Cavs are in full rebuild mode, able to leave Valanciunas in Europe due to buyout issues to develop his skills before bringing him over)
5. TOR- Enes Kanter (Raptors take BPA here and being European helps as well)
6. WAS- Jan Vesely(Tremendous athleticism and height and if Vesely can bulk up, the fastbreaks in Washington will be real scary with Wall getting the ball to Vesely)
7. SAC- Jimmer Fredette (Perfect fit for the Kings with Tyreke Evans driving and dishing for the open Jimmer. Like they say, TEACH ME HOW TO JIMMER!, plus hes no Redick as he has better handles and can finish at the rim)
8. DET- Kemba Walker (Detroit franchise in need of a spark. Kemba is the BPA here and can provide that)
9. CHA- Kawhi Leonard ( Bobcats have a knack for drafting solid college players and Kawhi is a good pick here with tremendous athleticism and upside to improve his jump shooting)
10. MIL- Alec Burks ( Bucks need a scoring wing badly and will be thankful Burks is available here. They snap him up)
11. GS- Klay Thompson ( Prototypical Warriors type of pick. With rumors that Monta Ellis is being traded, Warriors need a backcourt mate for Steph Curry. Good fit for the backcourt as Thompson does not demand the ball as much as Monta does which allows Curry to run the plays)
12. UTA- Chris Singleton ( Having selected Knight at 3, Utah now will pick Singleton to shore up their SF spot. Singleton is a great defender with great physical attributes who will be groomed to replaced the aging Andrei Kirilenko)
13. PHX- Bismack Biyombo ( With poor workouts at the Adidas Eurocamp, Biyombo slides out of the top 10 but ends up in a perfect system with Nash running the point gettin Biyombo easy baskets at the rim. Biyombo will also excel defensively under the Suns system)
14. HOU- Donatas Motiejunas ( Houston may look at Marcus Morris or Tristan Thompson here, but with with uncertainties surrounding their franchise center, Yao Ming, Houston takes a gamble on Motiejunas who can either turn out to be a real superstar or another bust)
