A well played pick and roll from the two guard set allows the guard to stand off from his opponent. Then the guard, while double teamed, passes to his near foward for an open baseline shot. The pick and roll requires excellent precise passes and precise timing. In tonight's game, The Tiptona Border Collies displayed the new play called the trip and roll. Start with both guards standing much too close to each other. In this play, the point guard Davies moves up to the perimeter. He trips over his own shoes, and he pitches forward. During this trip, Davies deflects the ball (rolling free across the wood) to the shooting guard Dougherty. Distracted by Davies primal scream, the defense double teams Dougherty. Timing and precision mean nothing for this play. Sometimes the team mascot runs onto the boards to check on Davies. This further distracts the refs and the defense. Dougherty jumps high while whistling and throws the ball to forward Epperson who sinks a baseline jumper unopposed. Well , half the time he sinks it. The other times, the brick bounces off the hoop, and flies out to center Markham, striking him in the head. After a brief medical timeout, the border Collies attempt a desperate three point shot by Davies. This results in a quick rebound and fast pass for a slam dunk by the opponent.

( Lose with humor and you will enjoy the game! )
