Me and my brother are having an argument on if 2 point jump shots also require inside shot. I think that any jump shot is just jump shot and jump range but he believes that all 2 point shots require inside shot.

You don't need inside shot to shoot all 2 point shots. Having Jump shot and jump range is just fine.

So is it the fact that, the further you are from the basket, the more jump range you should have? How about for guys with proficient or better jump shot, who's not being gaurded well, who takes a shot from the baseline or free throw line, and he misses?

My guy had Proficient jump shot, and strong jump range and hasn't capped yet. So do you need jump range if your guy shoots from the baseline or free throw line? I always thought that jump shot was extremely important for gaurds, because they're mostly in front of the three point line.

I know one thing for sure though, passing does open up for jump shot and jump range. I think inside shot should only be mainly for centers and power forwards, to a lesser extent small forwards. Inside shots are good for scoring close to the basket.

* Jump Shot: A better shooter will make more shots at all distances.

* Jump Range: A player with a higher jump range will find that the effectiveness of his jump shot decreases less with distance.

This is from the game manual.

Correct. the further you are from the basket, the more jump range you need to consistently hit that shot

How about for guys with proficient or better jump shot, who's not being gaurded well, who takes a shot from the baseline or free throw line, and he misses?

Too many variables like who is marking him, etc. Also, even those players that can consistently hit a shot will sometimes miss when no one is marking him

Jump range always helps if you are shooting jump shots.

Not correct. Guards need IS too when they drive to the hoop for layups/dunks. This is particularly true for inside based offense

There is a lot more variables like who is marking him.

As a general rule, people like to keep JR at around 2/3s of JS

I did say in general so not to be taken specifically.

Also a lot also depends on who is guarding that player and what sort of offense you are running. There are just too many variables here but obviously the higher the better :D

Yes obviously it is higher the better. Barring any salary restrictions, we would all love to have legendary for every skill but unfortunately there is salary issues when players become unaffordable.

So the right answer should have been the higher the skills the better, permitting that the salaries don't get blown out of proportion.
