I've been upgrading my offense, but my shooting guard position still sucks. Right now I'm faced with a choice between two players:

Jump Shot: mediocre Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: mediocre Handling: average
Driving: awful Passing: respectable
Inside Shot: pitiful Inside Def.: atrocious
Rebounding: inept Shot Blocking: pitiful
Stamina: mediocre Free Throw: inept

Experience: atrocious

Jump Shot: average Jump Range: awful
Outside Def.: average Handling: respectable
Driving: inept Passing: respectable
Inside Shot: average Inside Def.: mediocre
Rebounding: respectable Shot Blocking: mediocre
Stamina: atrocious Free Throw: strong

Should I start the first player, who actually has some JR, or the second player, who has better inside skills and defense? I know it's a choice between bad and worse, but I don't have money right now after buying two players and expanding my arena. Which one should I start?

The second is a better defender, so it'd depend on what you need more from this spot: points and choose the first, defense go with number 2.

Personally, I'd go with the best defender and train him in OD, pass and JR in that order. Don't konw the level of your league, but that od is pretty low.

Agree that second is likely better, unless you're running a lot of outside offense. That jump range isn't so nice. But, he does have better driving and inside shot, and should be good. The better OD is key.

But the question of whether either of these guys is trainable is a good one. These aren't terrible starting places for guys you have extra room to train, but I'd imagine you could find some better overall guys to add on that aren't too expensive.
