Who cares about the playoffs? Getting the #4 seed is like staying on 16 in a game of $10 blackjack. If you're in the relegation series, you'd best hit on 18 and put the mortgage on it or else your sorry ass will be back in III anyways. Only for the cool kids! Let's make picks!

Great 8

5. Italian Roosters - favorable 2nd half sked
6. Eugene Register-Guard - that gritty team nobody wants to play
7. DC Dribble Penetrators - comeback!!!
8. The Rebels - someone had to be #8. Rebels could make the playoffs in other IIs

Big 8

5. Knicktardeder - picked them ov...under IYF based on nothing
6. USA ELITE!!! - rawr!!!
7. Dei Ex Machina - they seem like a lock here
8. too close to call

Relegation Winners

Eugene vs. Dei Ex - Eugene - better team wins
DCDRP vs. USA Elite - DCDRP - but will USA tap into those cash reserves to stay afloat?

I have no idea about USA Elite. He must be swimming in cash from the past few seasons. He could grab some elite players by then.

8. too close to call

So true, if he wanted to, he could buy some guys and make it out of #8. That's crazy.

I wouldn't bet on the fact that he's swimming in cash. He had the worst arena income of any team in all of D2 last week, and that includes two cheese snorkelers in II.3 who have no luxury seats at all.

Edit: I'm an idiot. He doesn't pay half the salaries that most of us do, so I don't know what I was thinking. OK, maybe not swimming in cash, but bathing in it. Less of a work out that way.

He doesn't have any plans to, if our conversations are any indication of his desire to sick around.

He increases his team salary by 60%.

I hope it causes dissension in the Elite ranks, players go on strike, become moody malcontents.

some interesting games for us bottom-feeders:

IYF vs. USA: Can USA climb to 5th? Complicating the effort is the point differential, but a win tonight on the road will result in USA and IYF having identical records with five to play.

Rebs and DC: much the same situation: DC wins, draws even with the Rebs, five games to play. Here the point differential is basically nonexistent. Man, the Great 8 is brutal: Rebs come within a point of beating all three of the leading teams in the Big 8 and they could finish last in the Great 8.

Roosters at Eugene: perhaps only the coaches of these two teams find this game dramatic, but I am aware that a win for Eugene would place some much needed distance between them and the Rebs / DC and keep them in the hunt for the coveted (for bottom feeders) 5th spot; the Roosters are dreaming of playoffs, a dream-like competition where the loser does not get kicked out of the league.

Up at the top, tonight's game 'twixt Dog River and the Bulls of Wall Street is such a good game I wish it was scheduled for the final regular season game instead of now. Will the Bulls pull out the stops to get the victory, or save their best for the playoff finals? Or do they play hard to avoid the chance of dropping to 3rd? Once again, the PD plays a role, giving the Bulls a large margin of error. I don't know all the factors, but if I were the Bulls I would TIE and hope the HCA would be enough for a victory. However, the Dogs may be too ruff, ruff regardless of what the Bulls decide to do.

I expected him to Normal me. Whoops.

But I wanted the win and the PD, so I don't regret it. Despite me dropping 112 points on Dog River, he still has the #1 defense in the league (in terms of PPG allowed). I wasn't taking him lightly.

10inch's win over TF was huge. 10inch has a favorable Home/Away schedule now, so I think he's locked into a Top 3 spot in the Great 8. He could make it into the 2nd seed, I wouldn't be surprised.

DC Dribble has rebounded from his disastrous start, to now being able to fight for his survival. That's a big season turnaround, he must have entertained blowing it all up at one point or another too.

This has been an interesting season to say the least and DC Penetrators are excited for the last few weeks. We will try to hold on to 7th but don't love the schedule. This is the most times I've been Normalled in a season but that is a good thing. I am definitely guilty of being a TIE machine.

Expect some interesting results in the next few league games and always love watching teams balance the cup run with playoff seeding.

Just for the record, I played TIE against you.

You're welcome.

That was an impressive comeback from a terrible start. I got some work to do, because after upgrading my team, I cant really afford to demote.

An interesting thought: Apart from my two scrimmage scrubs, my team consists of 7 SGs and 3 Centers.
I cant remember the last time I had a real PG or PF.

Well once you get a real PG and PF, you'll have your work cut out for you in finding a SF. They are EXPENSIVE! And training one to be good enough to start for you will take like 2 Real Life years. Who has that kind of patience?
