Is driving only for wing players or does it effect inside moves also?

The most rough definition of the role of Driving: it improves quality of a shot. It's beneficial for all players.

Driving actually decreases shot quality inflating the number of shots a player takes (mainly bad shot attempts) and thus decreasing his shooting percentage. I have a great inside scorer with very low driving and he's constantly one of the top players in the league in terms of FG%.

?

Handling improves the quality of the shot.

Driving improves the ability of a player to generate chances

Note that both skills related to shooting, are only useful when your player already has some IS or JS/JR.

How do you define "Ability to generate a chance"?

The Game Manual says that DV also "creates better shots on average". Basically, my understanding is that a player A with 7 JS and 1 DV has less chances of scoring than a player B with 7 JS and 2 DV, considering all other factors are equal.

As I see it, all DV, HN, PA (and JR) are supplement (multiplier) to a shot taken (though PA and HN work with different "mechanism" and are also involved in avoiding TOs).

In offense it's always better to take a shot than not, isn't it?

It's not a problem of taking or not taking a shot. Think of forcing a shot early on the shotclock versus passing the ball and letting other guy shoot. Following your idea would mean that if all your players had DV=1, you would get a shot clock violation every possession. That obvously is not true.

I'm speaking in relative context. For unassisted shot (in general) the one coming from a DV 2 guy has better chance to get in than compared with a shot from a DV 1 guy and it is valuable for all players not just the Wingmen. That's what our friend cbbakke asked in the first place. I never commented differently about the role of PA than what you said, but that is not what the question was about.

I try to have big guys with a 6 min for pass. I just am not clear how important handling, drive and jump shot are for the inside player.
