This might be low priority but I believe it would be cool to have.

You can add commentary for your matches prior that will be shown in the game in certain situations.

We could add things for:

Field goals.
3pt shots.
Steals etc.

Examples:
A 3pt shot eg.
BOOM! [SG] shoots a magnificent shot from the corner.
A FG shot eg.
[PG] beats his man and goes up for the dunk, the ball crashes down onto the opponents head but everyones ok.

I think it would make the match viewer more interesting.

As the game engine is universal and works the same for everyone, it would be extremely difficult to customise changes for every individual user.

Right...so when 50,000 users want personalised comments for potentially 50 lines of personalised commentary then you are now talking about another huge database that must be kept.

Not to mention the "bugs" people will think will be there when commentary don't show their user defined commentary properly. I'm saying from a maintenance perspective, you are opening yourself up for a lot of trouble once you let users customise the game engine.

Well then why not add 5-6 new bits of commentary to make it a bit more exciting instead of just:

Scored.

And then change them every month or so.

Personally, I think there are several more important features to correct in the GE, like the 40 second possessions, or the 1-second rebound-to-dunk possessions at the end of the 4th quarter.

The display works pretty well, despite the occasional comment where your player tries to block his own teammate and so. You can always imagine your player going between the legs before the dunk and then Jeff van Gundy saying something stupid

Damn cherry pickers, they don't play any defense and just stay back on the offensive end! ;)
