Hi all,

I'm wondering what should be my focus with a short-term goal to stay up in Div III and long-term to build a solid allround team:
1. Trainees
2. Buying experienced players
3. Arena upgrade
4. Scouting
5. Current players

I have 800k.

Cheers tills

hey tiger

just had a look at your team and you look to have put yourself in good stead for the future.

It would have been better for you to be on the other side of the draw. however you have to work with what you are given.

Response to 1:

it looks like you have some of the pieces already in your team to train guards. Ata, Grima and John.

John may be hard because he is 6'9 with some outside training he can be a very handy outside SF. All three are Perennial All-stars so will have a good lot of training left in them. they wont make any U21 NT's or senior NT's because of their age. however will be great for your team in a few seasons time if you keep training them.

(14843366)

for instance look at Neeber's - Beast Red's player above. he is only Perennial All-star aswell and dominates his position in this tough division 3. that is where you players can be at in a few seasons time.

in my opinion you should train those 3 for this season at least. that way you dont have to waste any money getting new ones.

Response to 3

your arena definitely needs work. you will have the promotion attendance bonus for the first half of the season probably so it would be good to take advantage of that by increasing the size of your arena. i would say spend 400k of your money there. say 1000 bleachers 200 lower tier and 30 courtside seats.

Response to 5 & 2

well you have some alright players at the moment. and the only old player is your SF. with that team and say another starting PG you should be right staying up. You could play one of your C's at SF and go inside, thus you wouldnt have to worry about needing a SF right away.

im thinking if you purchase a PG like this one on the TL atm - (14719051)

he is only 23 so can remain in your team for a while. and because of his MVP potential he is still trainable. albeit slow, however he can get training minutes when you are required to do 2 position training. the passing should also be strong enough for now to compliment your bigs.

and on scouting it depends. if you are looking at developing your current players i wouldnt do much. at most 10k per week. but if your looking for a gem then go with a little more. depends on whether you think the cash would be better spent in a different area. like your arena throughout the season.

well that is my 2 cents. its up to you but by the looks of it you are progressing well

Just a quick reply re: Arena

Make sure you do it in increments to maximise your time to earn more money.
for example. adding 500 bleachers takes 7 or 8 days.
I'd suggest doing upgrades that take no more than 7 days at a time.
if you spend all $400k at once you will be waiting possibly 2+ weeks before you see any return
if you do it 100k at a time you will get steadier increases to your income and quicker.

1) Arena definitely needs work. Have a look at some of the other arenas for ideas, and build up.. definitely do at least 1000 bleachers, 2000 if you can afford it..

2a) I would suggest train train train. You need to work out what you train and from there work out how many guys you need. I dont know your players at all, but i would suggest you want to single position train PG, and train PRESSURE for Outside Defence, and you can also mix it up with passing training. If that is how you want to go, save your money for now and dont get any new guys, as the 3 you have are all good prospects.

Just make sure that each of those 3 players gets 48mins per week at PG. So when setting lineup, set 1 guy to starter/backup/and reserve, and try not to have anyone on the bench that can play that position to avoid subouts. You want each of those 3 guys to get 48mins per week at PG position.

2b) If you are going to train players, you need to get a good trainer. Most people recommend a SUPERIOR trainer with fitness skill as you will get lots of pops from players, without breaking the bank. If you are patient, you should be able to get 1 of these guys for about 400k with salary less than 20k.. cheap salary is important as salary goes up every week..

3) I would hold off buying any experience players at this stage. I think you have a squad definitely capable of winning any relegation battle. They look to have 2 guys going bot, we possibly have 1, so if you finish 6th, you should easily win relegation battle against a bot, but i think u can finish 5th... I would not waste the initial cost or salaries until you know roughly where your gonna finish, and u can buy the right piece for relegation if required. Use the money on arena upgrades, but towards end of season try to keep 2-300k in reserve in case you need to buy an experienced player.

4) scouting i would suggest you are possibly going to finish 5th-6th, so that gives you a good pick, especially with a few bots we may have. I would suggest you spend 20k per week to give yourself the best shot. Do not spend any points until after ASW, so you can do the SCOUTING COMBINE and then sort your strategies from there. If you can spend 40k great, but this season should be about making as much cash as you can, and i think $40k is unnecessary.

So to sum up, i would say priorites :

1) buy a superior trainer if you dont already have 1, around 400k for less than 20k salary

2) invest whatever is left in stadium, starting with bleachers.

another quick one re: trainers

I've only ever had an Advanced trainer and I managed to get Gab Wall into the U21's without a problem.
So don't spend $400k on a superior trainer, that's an EPIC waste of money in my opinion.
you can get an advanced trainer with a $15k salary for very little capital outlay.

scout 3pts a week coz you will finish down the bottom of the ladder and are a better chance to get your first pick. :)

train single position as much as possible.
if you're training point guards as has been suggest here, train pressure and passing pop for pop. and to even it out even more you could do OD, Passing, 1on1 evenly.

also as i suggested in my last post.
Don't throw all your money at the arena in 1 big chunk, it's better to do $100k at a time max in my opinion.

good thing we have some varying ideas in this div. :)

lol we are all on the same page, just a little different.

there isnt a lot of difference between lvl 4-5 trainers, and ranga is right a lvl 4 trainer is capable of great training, but for me the extra 2-4 pops a season out of a lvl 5 trainer pays for itself :D

agree on the small upgrades at a time. 500 bleachers at a time..job gets done quicker, so you start to get return on investment sooner.

extra 2 - 4 pops per season? Gab wall is averaging 13pops a season so far i think.
are you getting 15 pops???
and that does include some 2pos training.

im actually curious, not trying to stir.

hard to say.. Courreges got 13 pops last season, but he also missed 4-5 weeks of training as he was drafted by a bot and didnt play a game b4 i bought him. and that is all skill pops, not Stam or FT's

chan popped well, but disapponted with brumecik, but i guess tis what happens when you train a 6'6 in guard skills :D

Majority of my training last season was either Passing or Pressure, with 1 week of 1vs1 and some JS training at the end.

Wall is also 7'2 so he prolly trains quicker cause of his height..

all i can say, is i look at Coureges ratings and am VERY happy with the player he is becoming. is it worth the 400k? i think so :D

that is a great tip. i never got that advice and possibly cost me 20 or 30k in various points during my time in BB

although i dont agree with what skyhook said about building 2000 bleachers instead of 1000 and some other seats. but thats up to you.

and i would save the coin and buy an advanced trainer as you arent training for a NT. those funds will be more important in your pocket this season than in that trainer.

i should clarify.. i would be aiming to add 2000 bleachers plus the other seats bainsy talked about by the end of the season..

maybe do a pattern of :

500 bleachers
140 lower tier
50 courtside
500 bleachers
140 lower tier
50 courtside
500 bleachers
50 courtside
500 bleachers

that would give u an arena of :

7300 bleachers
730 lower tier
200 courtside
4 luxury boxes

Total : 8234

bleachers are your real money earners.. you make your money back so quickly on these babies compared to other seats.
