Hi all, I was wondering if you could help me out in my next game. I'm matched up against some dude who has 2 centers worth over 120k in salary while in comparison my best player (also a center) is only making 25k. Yeah based on this it seems like I'm gonna get owned by his awesome frontcourt, however the rest of his positions are much weaker (2 9k sgs, another 10k c), so I would like to know what's the best countermeasure against him.

Do I go 2-3 to try to match up against his legendary post offense? or do I go 3-2 and take advantage of his weaker perimeter? The thing is I have some pretty good outside defenders, so instead of going toe-to-toe with his post scorers, I was thinking of trying to get some steals by focusing on the perimeter. Then again doing this might make his post advantage even better.

What do you guys think?

You're playing on the road against a far superior team. You could just play TIE, manage your minutes and don't even bother trying to win that game. Sometimes you're simply overmatched.

If you're not worried about your league (it looks like you're cruising) I guess the alternative is to play crunch and hope you catch him taking you lightly. Unfortunately, it looks like he had an easy league game today and saved his bigs to play against you Thrusday so I think you might be in trouble. But looking at the minutes they've played this week, he might also start one and back him up with the other.

To answer your original question, I prefer the 2-3 to the 3-2 against an inside based team. Others may disagree.

Hey man thanks a lot for the advice. I got creamed in the game, unfortunately I forgot to set the tactics correctly and ended up going 2-3 against his team. My perimeter guys still ended up owning his people though, so its definitely making me wonder what if I went 3-2. Anyway live and learn, right?

Well regarding this game I had one ace in the hole, I actually had 10 enthusiasm and went crunch time, I think that evened it out somewhat. Unfortunately I made the mistake of using RNG when it seemed like my players can't shoot 3 pters very well, so I still ended up losing big time haha. Oh well I'll get him next season.

If you went 3-2, you would have been in serious trouble. He went LI and only shot 3 times from three. What you played that game on the off/def end was by convention a good decision. You lost because he outclassed you with a better team. I think I cannot agree with you saying RnG a bad idea in that game, he was eight levels weaker defending the perimeter (mediocre medium) compared to inside (strong low). Good luck in your next game.

Yes, I am very much aware of this long-standing argument as well but I still would like to believe that they don't just depend on the bigs to score in inside offenses, as was shown in this game in particular, where more than half of the shots were taken by SF, SG and PG.

Yes, I understand that oft-said thing very well. I was just pointing out that majority of shots in that game were taken by SF, SG, and PG instead of the bigs, and had he went 3-2 the scoreline would have been worse.
