Alright everyone, here we go! The rankings will get more accurate as the season goes on, and I think I've (finally) found the right formula for them (for the new people, I have a formula that weights average ratings, record, and PD. I can send it to you if you want). But these preseason rankings will not go off of that formula since there haven't been any games.

These rankings are simply my opinion after a very brief glance at rosters and team history. So.. they mean nothing. But whatever, it's fun for me to do this.

Power Rankings
1) Eclypze: Had the highest salary and the #1 seed last season only to lose in round 1 in shocking fashion. Now he's sitting on over $4.5M cash AND a 100K big man. It will be intersting to see what he does with that cash.
2) Ron Swanson All-Stars: Gotta include the D2 guy up here. Has the highest salary currently, but interestly enough the 9th highest top 5 salary. Lots of depth on this team, coming out of a very tough D2 league.
3) Toronto Traptors: Only out of respect. I still don't see how you succeed so much while paying players so little. #12 highest salary in the league, and second to last in top 5 players. But that's how it was last season too, and you just kept winning.
4) Extra Crispy: #2 highest salary and #1 top 5. Unfortunately my rival who I'm yet to beat..
5) Liberty and Power: We've got some legit D4 teams. 4th highest top 5 salaries.
6) Updog Brewers: Semi Finalist last season and has the same squad. Going to be up there.
7) Flash Mashers: Another scary D4 champ. 3rd highest top 5 salary.
8) Natellio: I made some upgrades toward the end of last season, so I'm hoping they can push me into the playoffs.
9) East Gary Eagles: Similar to the Traptors... Not much player salary but was the #2 seed in his conference last season.
10) Broken Aarow Tornados Kind of the opposite of the Traptors. Lots of depth salary wise on this team, but struggled at 12-10 last season. Should be a contender for the playoffs though.
11) Lake Charles Creoles: You know the league is good when.... Scary to put Lake Charles at #11. But had struggles last season, and no major changes have happened (yet).
12) 2 Left Feet: Had the 5th spot last season. Should be right around there again.
13) Conneeticut Cresleys: Love CTing randomly. BEWARE.
14) Ozark Tigers: Not very active. But has a couple stud bigs that can carry him to some wins.
15) Lengends: D4 champ will need a little work. But he's got the promotion bonus in his pocket.
16) The Door Mats: Maybe a little overwhelmed coming in. Maybe he has a special tactical plan though. But he's last in salary and top 5 salary.

Good luck everyone! I'm sure the ranking will change a ton after the first week.

It will be a minor miracle if I do not get relegated this season. I might just blow up the team and concentrate on training.

Awesome rankings, hopefully I'll be able to move on up the list. It's a building season for me though, just looking to stay in the league and make a few bucks

Very cool power ranking feature. I will say the level of competition has obviously gone way up too since Season 17: the new promotees are getting tougher every year, and the old faces have gotten better over the last season. I haven't scouted too much past glancing at rosters but there's probably 10 teams here in season 19 who could have been favorites for the title in season 17.

I'd put Eagles and Tornadoes higher up my own list, but frankly I'm also not sure who I'd bump down right now. With the exception of Ozark (less active), the Big 8 is a nightmare. And there are really no gimmies on the Great 8 side either. Looking forward to seeing how things start to shake out after a couple weeks of games.

Personally I can't stand the first week of the season, the economy page is screwed up, the standings have no actual meaning, and the anticipation to see where I'll fit into the league begins to eat at me...

So this was a weird first set of games. Toronto lost to Ozark at home, I normalled Extra Crispy because I thought he was still my rival, Eclypze went down (tough opening game though..).

Whatever, I'm waiting until Wednesday to post a ranking.

More or less. Sometimes I'll do it after each game, but for the most part I'll do it once a week.

Ok, so we have a little bit more of the story told. But honestly, this still has not unfolded the way I thought it would. For example, the Toronto Traptors (last seasons runner up) are last in the Big 8. Not thinking that will stick. The Ozark Tigers are in 1st in the Big 8, after beating the 2 Big 8 semi-finalists. Weird. Not thinking that will stick either. The Great 8 isn't quite as unpredictable, but I am surprised that 2 out of 3 promotees on that side are sitting in the playoff hunt.

All that said, it's only been 2 games and we still have no game shape or enthusiasm difference (*coughOZARKcough*).

So, based on my formula, here is the current power ranking. Again, the number you see next to the team is their Power Ranking score. It's figured by adding a weighted team rating average, team record, and team point differential. They are weighted in that order of importance.

Power Ranking

1. Ron Swanson All-Stars: 13.282
2. Flash Mashers: 10.140
3. Ozark Tiger: 9.723
4. Eclypze: 4.648
5. Lengends: 4.515
6. Liberty and Power: 3.832
7. Updog Brewers: 3.057
8. 2 Left Feet: 0.822
9. Natellio: 0.132
10. East Gary Eagles: -1.752
11. Extra Crispy: -2.777
12. Conneticut Cresleys: -4.810
13. Broken Aarow Tornados: -6.227
14. Lake Charles Creoles: -8.860
15. Toronto Traptors: -9.860
16. The Door Mats: -15.902

Good luck in the Cup everyone!

This is awesome! But I agree with you, this will be changing, there's no way I'll hold onto 2nd place...
