This and Reggie Miller's retirement pretty much were the reasons I stopped caring about the NBA at all (as a Pacers fan, it was a devastating gut punch). This is an outstanding look back at the events, mostly in the words of people who were involved in it, though, and certainly recommended reading.

They had a decent team this year but they don't even compare to that Pacers team with Stephan Jackson, Jermaine Oneal, Ron Artest, and Reggie Miller. That team was stacked and probably would have gotten to at least the Conference Finals if it weren't for this event IMO.

They would have won it all that season, no doubt in my mind, the way they dominated Detroit that night.
