It amazes me more and more how poorly a lot of managers manage their Gameshape and Enthusiasm. This has really worked to my advantage this season because 2 of my 3 cup wins were against teams with much better players but I kept my gameshape high and played crunch time with an enthusiasm level of 7 or 8 and pulled out wins.

I am optimistic about my next cup game as well even though he clearly has superior players because most of his top players have a gameshape of average or mediocre.

I am shocked that more managers do not pay more attention to this and they seem to go all in with their players to start the season but screw themselves over down the line. If I have a game I am sure to win or lose I almost always go TIE and all back-ups. Other managers will often try to blow out an opponent or go for the impossible win and I do not understand it.

In a season where I figured I would be training and not winning I have managed three cup wins and a 5-1 record. Half those games had players as good as mine if not better. Manager skills seem to be just as important as player skills in BB.

this approach, of good management of GS and enthusiasm, will get you through D5, and in the middle to top third of D4 leagues. I think you'll find that the top D4 teams manage these well, and in D3, forget it. And CTing in the cup is ok for a team that's in the lower levels, cause as you're finding, the loss in enthusiasm won't be that detrimental. When you do it, you're really just resetting yourself to the level of someone who doesn't manage enthusiasm. When you want to win your league though, you'll want to be more judicious with CTs.

Thanks for the tips. I am aiming for cup wins at this point to add some money mostly and just have my enthusiasm jumping all over. After a CT game I been following up with a TIE to get my enthusiasm back up. Luckily my cup games have been followed up with low talent teams so the enthusiasm has not hurt me. I keep a close eye on my future schedule to avoid major issues with this. My cup run has to end soon but due to my level of talent but I figure I can milk as much money out of the tournament as possible. At 5-1 I have a little cushion in my league so I figure even if I drop a few games due to some low enthusiasm games I have plenty of time to get it back up before the playoffs come.

Looking at the management in my D4 league I figure I have an outside shot at taking it this year even though I had not intended to do as such. The extra cup money has given me a nice bonus to upgrade some talent to make this possible.

I try to have good game shape... but team's finances are limited, as it was a really bad team last season. This season also, my SF and his backup have both been injured. cutting my 11 player roster to 9 basically. which then further hurts gameshape by players having to play longer minutes, etc.

When you get to D.IV, 7-8 enthusiasm is a bit low actually. If you can get it up to 10-11, TIEs will be just as good as normals, and a normal will be almost as good as a CT with lower enthusiasm, without the penalty. I TIE all my games unless they are must-wins.

seconded. TIE every game unless you absolutely need a win.

Thanks. I thought 7-8 was enough. I have 7 now,and TIE'ing (FInally,sine D.5) a weak inside team. They have their 42k and 30k injured,so TIE and hopefully my Experienced 34 y.o. 2k player will kill,if he gets fixed up.

I don't know about CTing in the cup, league games are much more important and if you CT, your not only killing enthusiasm, your also losing a few games that you could win with better enthusiasm. Unless it is towards the end of the cup (Round of 64 or later), then CTing should be completely avoided. Not to mention how annoying it is to the other manager, but then again, every loss that should be a win is annoying.

Hey guys, so right now I have 5... Should I use crunch time to get it to 7-8 then switch to TIE to keep it at that level? D5 btw

TIE increases your enth. CTing just lowers it drastically.

Oh, its the opposite of what i was thinking, this game is way deep, many things r counter intuitive...

So, can I do CT when really need a win and play TIE all other games?
