I can't answer your question for an entire season, but I have a 26 year old who was a starting SF. I moved him to SG for the last three weeks due to team needs, and he got 48+ training minutes each week for the last three weeks, and he popped all three weeks. And this is two-position training with a lvl 4 trainer.

Can't tell. But you can definitely get good results because 25-27 yos aren't that old. I am guessing two or three pops short to what you would expect for a 18yo.

Please do not take this as a fact, take it as something that I was told.

But I was told (or read on here somewhere) that roughly, a player will get two less pops per season for every year he ages.

No that is not true.
Can someone find me the post where someone (possible Joseph Ka) made that chart with how much training a person gets depending on their age and staff etc...

Both the previous two posters were way off the mark in terms of their estimates. I haven't got the correct estimates handy so I wont quote the wrong thing either but what I will say i general is that training a player who is around 27 is very slow but when he is a critical player who you need to play in that position to get wins then you will be just as happy with his 2-3 pops a season as you will be with the 10-12 pops your 18 year old will get.

If you sign up to contribute to the crowdsourced training analysis, there is a gloriously beautiful training rate versus age chart. See here for details on how to sign up. (203921.1)

The upshot from that: 26 year olds train quite slow, but if you're rounding out the last skills on a best or favorite player, it can be done.

I am just trying to round out a few stats for best player which is 27. I am training smalls and would like a few pops in handling and passing with my center. I have the elastic effect in my favor so i am hoping for a pop or 2 in each to finish this season.

I am guessing that all 3 pops were in different stats. I find it hard to believe that a 26 year old could pop that much unless each each of those stats were very close already

It was in three different skills (JR, HAND, DR). They were all really by accident becase this guy is not a trainee for me. I only played him in the training position because I needed him there to make my lineup work against some teams I could beat. Otherwise, this player would not get training minutes.

Also, two of the three pops he got were in skills that were super low, so they've probably gotten secondary training in past years that had those skills about to pop.

here is my example of training an old guy

Xie Guanzheng (11323951) Shooting Guard Weekly salary: $ 61 677 Age: 27 Height: 6'2" / 188 cm Potential: MVP

thanks everyone told me to stop training him but i just dont think anyone had actually trained an old player before

it isnt as bad as everyone says

if an 18 yo gets 12 pops a season that is great

but if a 26-7 yo gets 4 pops a season that is taking things from wondrous 2 marvellous that is even better - xie has had js, jr, dr and stam this season (maybe stamina doesnt count) and has 6 pops last season (js, od, ha, dr, pa and id) and there are still a few weeks left 2 get the od pop - had 4 weeks of pressure without a pop, this week could be the 1!

its even better 2 see that the js & dr have popped twice at ages 26 and 27 so i can see how slow it is
13/5 od - popped
20/5 pa
27/5 pa
3/6 trained pa & dr popped
10/6 js
17/6 js popped js
24/6 js
1/7 js
8/7 od
15/7 od
22/7 js
29/7 js
5/8 js popped js so 5 weeks to get that js pop (about 40% of the speed of a young guy)
12/8 1on1
19/8 1on1
26/8 od
2/9 1on1 popped dr so a bit hard to say but 3 week 1on1 & 7 weeks js for the dr pop (looks like about 30% of the speed of a young guy)
9/9 od
16/9 stamina
23/9 js
30/9 js

after that was written

7/10 od - popped 5 weeks of training after the last od pop

all this was single pos where possible with a lev 6 trainer

so @ age 26 & 27 he had 2 pops in each of js, dr & od

& the very next week

10/14/2011 Passing for PG
Xie Guanzheng ↑popped↑ in Handling from wow to OMG.

maybe a handling pop isnt the most exciting but when u r 27 u take whateva thrills u can get :P

i thought i went through this already this season but i cant so ill do it again

the 28 week training history shows xie has had the following pops
js 2
jr 1
od 2
ha 2
dr 2
pa 1
id 1
st 1

thats 12 pops at age 26-7 making him a much better player forever
