What are the differences between the inside and outside isolation defensive tactics?

Inside and outside Isolation are offensive tactics.
Inside Iso- get the ball to the best inside offensive player and Isolate from him.
Outside Iso- get the ball to the best outside offensive player and isolate from him.

Outside Box-and-One has 4 guys play M2M, and guard with the best OD guard the opponent best outside scorer. Inside Box-and-One is just the opposite.

No thats not right.
Outside Box and one 4 players play a zone, where there are two people on the elbows and two people on the lower blocks and your best outside defender plays against the other teams best outside scoring threat.
Inside Box and one, the 4 players play a zone just like the other one, and your best inside defender guards the best inside scoring threat.

These are supposed to be helpful against teams with only one good player, but Im not sure how effective it is because I've never used it.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I have used it about 5 times and have found it to be very useful.
