Scouting method: (216576.8)
Open leagues: (216576.9)

Before any1 forgets, we need to do this scouting to keep the depth charts alive!

bballin, it's your call on the criteria
since the league placements and drafts have happened at the same time, please decide on whether the scouts should use the old S19 leagues (ie. prior to promotion/demotion) or updated S20 leagues for scouting =)

Edit in by me(Mod-Bballin):

We will actually use the S20 leagues, sorry

*****
The offseason processing day is coming up fast, on Monday, May 14th, 2012. That means that on Monday-ish....you guessed it....the draft! Every season, when a new group of Canadian players is drafted, the top draftees are identified and added to scouting lists. This season, I will be the one taking down player skills, and organizing the overall tracking efforts. As always, help is needed to scout the draft, and it would be great if we could get all of the scouting done as quickly as possible.

Every Canadian division needs to be scouted, all the way from Naismith down to the division IV leagues. For format, I think it works best to have draft classes posted in this thread; the key information is the player ID (it really helps if you post the link; [player=xxxx], where the xxxx is the ID number). Putting the player name next to the ID is also helpful, and any other information is optional.

I would like to see players listed that meet the following criteria:
- 18 years old
- $3500+ salary (approximately; can be lower for MVP+ potential)
- at least star potential
- not retired
- does not belong to a bot team

These guidelines are the same as ones that we have used in the past; I won't end up tracking every player that meets these criteria, but I would like to take a look at everyone that does, and track the best ones (anyone that I think has some reasonable chance of playing for Canada one day).

I think it works best to have volunteers step in and claim the leagues that they would like to scout. I recommend only volunteering for 4 leagues maximum or so to start; as the scouting goes along, if there are leagues yet to be claimed, anyone who wants to can jump in and take those as well (it works to just post that you will be doing it right before you do it, and then edit that post with the scouting information as you go).

Let's hope for a great draft class for Canada today, and feel free to ask if you have any questions about our post-draft scouting efforts this season.

Perhaps you can post his attributes here, but without seeing them I would recommend selling him.

He's already 19 with low starting skills so his actual value is minimal, but there are still a ton of people out there that see 'all-time-great' potential and will grossly overpay for that. You could make a lot of $$$ off a player who's actual value is quite low.

Great Potential but I hate the awful Handling. I am going to start training PG/SG and was hoping that this guy had better handling. Thoughts on how I should train him? As a SG? Or should I sell him?

Here is one way to do scouting; this is AstonMidhurst's method, with a couple tweaks:

1. In the Season 18 draft scouting thread, begin a post where you will record scouting information for the divisions you are doing, and add in the information as you go.

2. Open a new window, and go the the page for the division you're working on. Look at the conference page (either Big 8 or Great 8) and check which teams are bots. If a team is bot you don't need to look at it (you can tell by seeing the last login date, since bot teams will have a blank entry).

3. If a team is not bot, open their team page in a new window (saves time by not having to go back through old pages).

4. From the team page, go to that team's roster.

5. In the roster page, sort the players by age... they are automatically sorted by youngest to oldest (meaning the players we are looking for will be at the top of the page).

6. Record the players that fit the requirements for tracking... all newly drafted players will have a DMI of 0. If there is an 18-year old that doesn't have a DMI of 0, it means that the age update has yet to take place, and he's actually supposed to be 19-years old.

7. Repeat the process above for each of the teams in the conference.

8. Repeat the process above for the other conference.

9. Repeat the process above for the other divisions

In general, claiming scouting assignments in blocks of 4 leagues tends to work well. I'll keep all of the volunteering / completion information in this post here.

Naismith: zmtomako
II.1 - II.4: zmtomako
III.1 - III.4: Bruce Wayne
III.5 - III.8: Stajan
III.9 - III.12: Bruce Wayne
III.13 - III.16: Bruce Wayne
IV.1 - IV.4: Coconut
IV.5 - IV.8: Coconut
IV.9 - IV.12: Coconut
IV.13 - IV.16: Coconut
Outer space (IV.17 - IV.64):

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Totally disappointed in him. Looked very solid when scouted, and decent skills. But atrocious OD and STA hurts ALOT. Also because I wanted a PG trainee. Still trainable? I really don't want to spend a whole season on OD What do you say guys?
