Hi! I can guarantee you should be close at selling out your arena even if you charge 14 for bleachers and so on for the first six home games. With this extra income you can be competitive enough for your fans to show up afterwards as well.
Training helps, but it's certainly not free in DIII.
Good Luck!

I just promoted to D3 for the 3rd time. I'm hoping to stay longer this time. Can anyone offer any suggestions on what I should do to be competitive in the league?

I'm not going to be tremendously helpful for obvious reasons. ;)

Don't underestimate your roster, first off - while you may not have the superstar players, quality starters and depth can do quite well. Essentially, what you want to do is first ensure that you don't finish 8th, and then after that, if you have a chance at 5th that's great, otherwise you can try to focus on getting ready for a relegation series. Probably by the time we get to interconference play, you'll have an idea of where you'll need to make improvements if at all to achieve your goals, and if we're lucky, there'll be at least one team that decides to pack it in.

You also probably want to crunch time your TV matches, because that's important for revenue.

* - Of course, the reason you should CT the TV matches is in no way related to our matches being the ones after your TV matches. ;)

Thanks for the tips. I know I have to pick the games that I think I can win. Having the 3rd lowest starting 5 salaries and the 4th lowest top 8 doesn't bode well for winning many games. The salaries of the top 5 players on each team in our league average over $200k ($40k/player)! I don't think my balance and depth will make any difference when my starters are getting crushed by the top half of the league. My 2nd 5 are the best in the league but they are no match for most of the starters in the league. With this roster, I figure I have 6-8 wins which puts me in the regulation series. I don't want to be there at the end of the season. I'm shooting for #5 with some profits to put into adding seats and some good progress with trainees.

Good luck! The fun begins on Saturday. Do you think you have a chance against DC?

If you had asked me this time last season, I would have said no chance. But I was able to beat him at home in our second game last season, so while I of course expect it to be a challenge, I know that I definitely have a chance at it.
