So first there was the Panther Press for a while, and then recently more diaries have been popping up, like the Otherland Oracle, the Eagle, the Laser Limelight, the Denver Daily, the Pitbull Press, the Seawolve Standard, etc. So I'm just wondering what the community as a whole thinks about these sort of diaries? Do most people like them, as proof of active managers and interesting insights into individual teams, or do people view them as mostly spam that clutters up the forums?

Personally, I enjoy reading some of them, and I was thinking about starting one myself, but I don't want to take away from other people's experience by posting something they would consider an annoyance, so I just wanted to know what people think about team diaries in general before I created my own.

I find it exciting myself that I can read these presses live! It's fun. We can also cause some discussons, some help needed if we have a problem with team/buying/arena, etc. So you should! C'mon and join in! It'll be fun reading your aquisitions/ what you will do with that 3 Million.

Don't let my or anyone else's opinion stop you if you want to do it.

And although I'm the wrong person to say it, with a fairly poor BS to usefulness ratio myself, a team diary is not the same as a team's Facebook wall. It shouldn't be a place that you're updating 10 to 20 times a day, or just using as a place to chat with friends, or organizing a league that would be a private league except that it's not private and is being jammed into your eyeballs if you happen to glance at the thread or see that there are 35 new messages in the USA and don't know that 33 of them are in the same thread that has been downarrowed.

Just so I'm clear, I'm all in favor of anyone who has the interest in this sort of thing doing it. Just because I don't like something doesn't mean I want to suppress anyone else's fun - heck, I've come close to starting a parody diary a few times myself. I just wish that the quantity vs. quality scale was shifted way, way into the other direction.

That specifically, at least. I tried to actually read your diary at some point and I just don't have the patience to do so any more. If you're enjoying it, more power to you - although I am of course the living embodiment of awesomeness and supreme modesty, it's not your job to cater to my tastes. I am just adding my opinion without having had time to marinate it in honey and butterfly kisses.

There is a reason I don't visit the USA forums as much as I used to, and it's because of these newspapers or whatever they are. Honestly, if they were interesting or funny I would read them, but most of them are just updates on a team. If I wanted to follow your team I could look on your team page for stats, results, etc. Another thing that I don't like is that there is a place for these things on the offsite, they can easily be put there and not clogging up the main forum here.

Oh well............................................then it is. sorry. I should've started that league thread earlier. I'm just bored this summer. It's time for me to get into the real world, not the computer world............but thanks for the honesty, +1.

I will be honest here, I would probably be able to read these, if:

1) They were funny or interesting.
If some type of decent humor was thrown in every now and again then I could manage. Or if interesting topics were brought up, that provoked some type of thought and ended up in a mini friendly debate or something. Something! Right now the going ons of teams in mostly bot filled leagues are not interesting to me whatsoever.

2) They didn't look as if it was written by a 5 year old. A very excited 5 year old.
Not trying to be mean , but random bolded words in all caps, with dozens of periods and exclamation marks annoys the living daylights out of me. It might just be me though.

Right now, all these threads seem to consist of is, arguments over spelling mistakes, some mock-private league discussion and people trying to make jokes out of anything to get balls.

It is interesting new users which is aways good and I'm not telling people to stop, the USA Offsite has a spot for these newspapers where the only people who are going to read it and reply are people who are going to have something to add and some advice to give.

What would I know though, I'm just a Canadian!

I don't know why but the mock-private league thing seems funny to me. I just don't know. I'm laughing out of my chair.....just don't know why. Maybe cause I'm a little joyed up. IDK

On my mentors prompting I will definently start a joke section of my paper, but right now I have to excitedly go ask mommy for a cookie, mommy mommy.
