i think that when a team quits then all the teams behind that team move up by a rank.its just like you pull someone out of a line.the people behind that person move up a place to occupy the space vacated by him.
moreover if the win/loss records against all the opponents is checked then it would put pressure on the server and we might face more frequent server breakdowns.maybe thats why the BBs have kept this procedure quite simple.
