Hey I read the manual and looked at my team and noticed I have this player: he is worth a lot of money but he is a hall of famer. Should i keep him and train him or sell him for what hes worth. I'm new and my team is 2-8. I would appreciate anyones opinions on what the best action should be. Thanks.

I´ll echo what´s been said. That cash can help your new team a lot more than training the guy will. D5 teams don´t have the potential to train players to that high of potential. You´ll get more out of him through selling and using the money to set up a good economic flow that brings you lots of money each week.

Let me put it in the simplest way possible: sell him for 600k, use it on arena, once you know the game well, go for a superstar trainee.

Um, I am new to the forums, but not the game.

My first comment is a question to the Eagles. Mountain Eagles, what was the name of your previous team that you deleted?

( I am assuming that you must have had another team at one time because no one in their right mind would spend post after post blathering on about themselves and be handing down advice to "new players" if they were still in their first or second season in the game and still in division 5.)

Ok. With that out of the way I can answer your original question. Eh Hem. Mr. Mamba the way I see it you have two options.

Option #1 sell him now for $200,000 to $500,000. Take the cash and as the previous advisers have mentioned use the cash to invest in your arena.

Option #2 Don't sell him now and train him like heck. As the other managers have mentioned it is halfway through the season and not necessarily the best time to sell a trainee. But, If you train this guy over the next many weeks and then put him on the market after the next draft when hundreds of teams would love to have a high skilled HOF potential player and you might get $800,000 to 1,000,000 for him.

Also, option #2 does not mean that as you are training him you do not put him on the TL from time to time at a big price - you never know who might be looking for what and when.

My 2 cents. I'd keep him and make him the cornerstone of your team. You'll be able to train him forever, just make sure that you can keep up with his salary as he improves. To alleviate that concern, start by training his secondary skills. They are already pretty good, so that's a nice starting point since training inside skills on a 6'2 guy takes a while. Actually, first off, I'd recommend getting his handling and passing up (to around Strong) so he's not a turnover machine, then his OD (also to Strong) so he's not a defensive liability. After that, it's really up to you. I'd hold off on training JS and JR too much as I believe that will jack up his salary right away (there are many posts in the forums about the most expensive skills, salary-wise). With some increased IS he'll be able to finish his drives with savvy and guile. This guy is awesome.

You can still increase the size of your arena without selling this guy. Odds are you'll never have someone quite like him again, so parting with him for $300K isn't worth it in my book.

Oh man, I've learned a lot from my mentor, and I read the forum rules like, 4-5 times. I am young and still have a lot to learn, but I know the game pretty well, but that doesn't mean I'm a Know-it-all. I ain't stuck up, I try my best to be humble, but my youth sometimes gets me away.

2, I do post in the Eagle, but it's ot bragging, it's just entertainment. I'm not trying to come off like the lakers (who do brag) I just want to see active forums thats all.

3. I take advice. Prof. Bricks and EBW give me tough advice to keep me humble. I try my best to be humble. I don't want no aguments. and lastly, I lkie to give opinions, I can learn from my mistakes. Each mistake I make is another good thing for me cause I'm still learning. My motto is, you can always learn from your wrongs


PS I know you hate our newspapers, but I'm supporting the idea in the suggestions forum of making a new Forum for these team newspapers. Hopefully that can work soon.

It's entirely up to you. If you get a nice sell price on him you'll definitely be able to jump-start your arena construction, and if you keep him and train him well you'll have a stud that will bring in nice merchandise income. Whichever path you choose, if you make intelligent decisions about training and team composition, arena building and economy management, you'll do quite well.

Dont listen to these guys saying to sell him. It is hard to find an 18 year old hall of famer. You need to single position train him on JS, OD, and Handling. Do Not Sell this guy keep him and you benefit from him

Not to be mean.( Because this is not mean. [But someone people may feel like I am being mean. {Which I am not}]. I am saying this in a calm, courteous, and polite manner.) But, you should probably avoid taking advice from any team that does not at least have a III.something next to their name.

There are many friendly and talkative people that offer advise on these forums, but everyone who has a IV. something, V.something, or IV.something under their team's name means that they have no credibility (outside of the very very very rare instance where a team has purposely relegated after a long run in division II).

So what am I saying. Essentially if someone gives you advice who can't get out of division IV (or has not played the game long enough to have advanced) you should read their advice like this "WAH WAH WOH WAH, WOH WAH WHA WAH (insert Charlie Browns parents voices) because they have no idea what they are talking about OR they are parroting advice they read somewhere else.

Rubbish , complete rubbish , whilst what you say may be true in most cases i cannot condone this elitist attitude as i have seen some very able managers in the lower divisions of countries. One managed our u21 in england , a very talented manager , and with your way of doing things you would advise people to ignore his advice based on the division he manages in instead of his management credentials. Rubbish , give people a chance.
