I hope this poll will lead to an interesting discussion.

Here is a quote to start things of:

"Haven't seen nothing, haven't heard nothing," Wade said. "No. I just don't think there is [a doping problem]. It's nothing I've ever experienced in basketball. Never seen it. It's nothing that I think takes place."

Can we believe Dwyane wade?

Poll:  Do you think NBA players uses PEDs?

Yes
No
I don´t know
I hope so

"..Until I read this article, I never would have suspected Stephen Jackson as a possible steroid user. Now that I've read it, I don't have any proof he's juicing but I certainly have more questions. (Other writers seem to agree.) Sudden weight gain? Check. Age-defying improvement? Check. Increased stamina? Check. Anecdotal evidence of a hot temper? Check and check...

..I'm literally baffled how any journalist -- let alone one working for a paper that razed entire forests covering BALCO and Barry Bonds -- could raise so many red flags without actually asking more questions about how he bulked up so quickly so late in his career...

..I don't know for a fact that the NBA has a steroid problem, but considering PEDs have infected nearly every other organized athletic endeavor both amateur and professional, I have no reason to think the league is immune. (I also find suggestions that basketball is an activity in which steroids don't actually help to be downright silly. Steroids help people run faster, jump higher and recover quicker -- something all basketball players must do.) .."

The bolded part relates to this next link which is filled with just that kind of odd statements:

"I don't think steroids are used much, if at all, in our league," said Rudy Gay of Memphis. "
"..His thinking -- and he's not alone among the NBA players I spoke with -- is that because there is so much running and jumping (unlike in baseball) along with a lengthy season and numerous games (unlike football) steroids would speed the breaking down of knees and other joints..."

"Honestly I don't think steroid use happens in basketball at all or not too much," said Minnesota's Gerald Green. "You'd get hurt too much because we play so many games."

Green has another reason for thinking steroid use is practically nonexistent in basketball. "Steroids make you too big," he said. "You need to be fluid to play basketball. You'd be too slow if you used steroids in the NBA."

..So while I'm certain there are at least some NBA players using steroids, it's likely nothing like baseball. It seems safe to assume Stern won't be doing battle with Dan Burton on Capitol Hill anytime soon..."

"..Here's how it works in sports. Players will do whatever they can to achieve victory, which is why well-defined and strictly enforced rules are the sine qua non of all sports. The rules clearly prohibit the use of performance-enhancing drugs, but the incentive to dope is powerful because the drugs are extremely effective, the payoffs for success are so high, and most of the drugs are difficult if not impossible to detect. If tests can be beaten with countermeasures, or if the governing body of the sport doesn't fully support a comprehensive anti-doping testing program (as in the case of Major League Baseball and the National Football League), the incentive to cheat increases. Once a few elite athletes in a sport cheat, their competitors must also cheat (even if they only suspect others are doping), leading to a cascade of cheating through the ranks..."

The testing in the NBA is as i understand it really weak and could easily be mentioned along with Major League Baseball or the National Football League.

I forgot the link to the above quote:

So yeah, i think the NBA has some issues to deal with. Only, i´m not to sure anyone in the NBA wants to deal with something like that.

i also believe there is some drug use going around in the NBA, afaik the punishment is really low(10 games?) and they don't test during the off season.(no blood tests)

Also we have plenty of players who are really strong in very young years, yes they are excellent athletes and put lot of effort in but for me some of them look unreal and hard to explain with effort only. Also some player gain lot of weigth during off season without getting fat, especially some player in europe catch up in terms of muscles.

But even with drugs they would be great athletes for me.

This is interesting. Do you have some examples of European players bulking up?

I wouldn't be surprise if there are some player using PED, but not like it used to be in Baseball and some other sportsl. Do I think there are a lot of players smoking weed though...you bet!

But why not? :)
It´s not like they don´t have a lot of incentive to do it, and very little chance of ever getting caught.

They use PEDs most of the time, not to be better on the court, but to recovery faster...imagine those huge bodies to play 3-4 games in a week plus all that traveling...Some rumors where saying that the kidney problems that Moorning had where connected with that kind of PEDs...
