I am going to be playing a team that predictably plays a motion offense and man-to-man defense.

1) What is the best defense to play against a motion offense? I was considering the 3-2 zone. Thoughts?

2) What would be the best offense to play against a man-to-man defense? I was just going to play a base offense, but I was perhaps thinking about playing a motion offense myself. Thoughts?

Play the 3-2 against a Motion...it helps stop their outside game.

As for playing against M2M, try to play to your strengths without becoming too predictable.

Against Motion 1-3-1 is the BEST defense. It ruins the outside game.

If they are playing M2M you look at their players in the last couple of games and see who is doing the scoring when playing M2M. Then put your defense against who is scoring or getting rebounds. You can see where they play in the match viewer.

Thanks. That is what I thought. I think I'm gonna go with the 3-2 zone. I thought about the 1-3-1, but that leaves you very susceptible in the paint. Their 3pt shooting isn't stellar, so I would rather hedge my bets for a better chance at the defensive rebounds rather than an all out attack on the 3 pt shot.

I think it depends how M2M works.

If you are playing Look Inside does M2M mean you are facing 3 people inside and 2 outside??

I think the "tactics" actually just boost skill levels and M2M boost outside and inside equally (opposed to 3-2 zone which boosts outside more and inside less). I don't think it means actually Man on Man.

I mean you are playing Look Inside and your opponent is playing M2M. Re-read my previous post with that in mind

If they are playing M2M, then why does it matter who is doing their scoring?

I was writing a reply and now realise how retarded I have become.

You are completely right I am talking about Base Offense there. If they are playing M2M you focus your team on your strengths or if they are consistently good at rebounding then it is better to play 2-3 Zone to counter that.

On another note I think ratings may be a LOT more useful this season so we will see how that all helps in the decision making.
