My new draftee:

Age: 18
Height: 7'0" / 213 cm
Potential: hall of famer
Game Shape: respectable

Jump Shot: inept Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: mediocre Handling: inept
Driving: average Passing: atrocious
Inside Shot: average Inside Def.: inept
Rebounding: respectable Shot Blocking: mediocre
Stamina: atrocious Free Throw: mediocre

Experience: atrocious

Does it make any sense to train him as a guard or SF? Or would it really take too long because of his height? Otherwise how to train him, PF or C? Would be my first big guy trainee.

First time i see someone from my league post in the forums...ever.

Your draftee is nice but he is listed as a SG only because of his relatively high JR, which is not particularily useful given his inept JS. He has some OD but other than that he is a pure C. There is no point in trying to train him as a SG or SF as the guard skills will take too long to train up to a decent lvl for those positions.

There are 2 ways to train him:
1. concentrate on B skills first (JS, PA, HD, OD, DR) then swich to inside skills.
advantage: they will make him more versatile, more affordable (salary) and sell for more.
disadvantage: those skills will train very slow on a 7'0" C and your C will not be good at C position for maybe 2 seasons.

2. concentrate on main skills (RB, IS, ID, SB), ID should be first.
advantage: he will skill very fast and become a decent C in our league within 2 seasons.
disadvantage: his salary will go up a lot every season.

PS: congratulations on the nice pick, i knew you would be the main competition in the draft and i am glad we both got a decent pick.

i think yes, since he have very high potential just training IS, Reb, ID (and BL) would lead to a salary monster, or let most of his potential unused when you stop his training with 20 when he is a solid C.

So when you already train guards, let him participate there (1 or 2 seasons) work especially on his Passing his OD and then switch to big men/forward training to get an excellent PF.

Or sell him quite early, since some manager pay stupid amount of money for potential.

"train him as a SF" makes no sense if you mean a training position, thus, i assumed he was asking if he should train the player to become a guard or SF (he is listed as a SG).

But i agree that the player would make an excellent PF if you add some SJ, PA, HD and OD before swiching to inside skills.

i never said it, even when i think a good PF is also a good SF as long so many teams play LI.

> I think, yes
> ...training to get an excellent PF

guard or SF =/= PF even when SF and PF share a lot of skills

sorry for nitpicking but i want to avoid misunderstandings and a 7 footer ending up to be trained as guard and retire without any notable inside skills.
