Durant being the best is debatable, and this comes from an avid KD fan. I agree about Lebron. Melo is a perpetual ballhogger who couldn't pass the ball if an NBA title depended on it. Kevin Love is awesome. Dwight is mostly great, if you cut out the fact that he got his coach and GM fired in the same week, told everyone confusing BS about where he wanted to go, and just joined the Lakers only to ringchase like LBJ and Bosh did.

Kobe is still good, but getting older. Tim Duncan is old, but remarkably consistent. Dirk has a deadly stepback jumper, not tio mention, great offensive skills for a PF his size. Nash is the purest PG in the NBA. Pierce is like an outside-based SF. KG is a good jump-shooting PF. Billups is old and not nearly as good as before, but can shoot threes, pass, and I think he can play defense.

KD will be known as the G.O.A.T one day! Melo although he may not pass the ball lets be real. His role is to not pass the ball the Knicks knew he had issues sharing the ball and still chose to bring him in so his role mus be to dominate the scoring, Melo being basically a Kobe to his team yet people still put Kobe Top 3. Dwight although is a big baby cant let that reflect his skill. Must also keep in mind he is not even a true 7 footer. But is a beast at the center role.

I think we pretty much agree old the Vet top 5 but Billups was an animal for the Clippers before that injury. Not just shooting and defense but Billups consistently got to the rack and drew a few fouls. Billups still has it. Still I agree not as good as the Pistons Billups.

Kobe Role - Lead Team, Score Ball, Take over Games!
Melo Role - Lead Team, Score Ball, Take over Games!

Both excel at scoring, both have lock down defense, both average around 3-4 assist, come on what do you mean they are nothing alike.

I can think of.... 3 or 4 games, from the 2008-2009 playoffs where Carmello played "lock down defense"... over the ohter 500+ games or so he's played... I'm trying to think of as many examples as he had in that 1 Mavericks series... and struggling....

Nobody would accuse Melo of being a lockdown defender... but thats the only part of your comparsion you have wrong, and I agree that they are very comparable otherwise.

Yeah, I second what LBJ said. I have watched Melo play, and except for a couple game here or there over the past 5 years, he has done the same thing, game-in, game-out: ballhog, take 30-40 shots a game, at best he only makes ~20 or so, and his teams aren't as successful. The Knicks did make some additions this offseason, but I think the same thing will happen this season. Lastly, how can you say that Kobe and Melo are alike when Kobe has 5 NBA titles, while Melo has ZERO? Just my 2 cents.

Ok Kobe has championships that does not mean he cant be compared to anyone. They compare Dwight and Shaq they compare Lebron and Jordan, hell they compare Kobe and Jordan. Dirk and Bird. Number of Titles has nothing to do with the game play comparison. And when you listen to Interviews even Kobe's and I quote, "No one can really guard me Haha, but if I had to say it would be Carmelo, he has a grind it out game and his length helps a lot." Other players to say melo was Wade, Peirce

If Melo was a lockdown defender... then the Nuggets... when they had, Camby, Melo, Iverson, etc. Should have been able to make a finals, possibly win 1.

Thats having a lockdown defender, 2 of the best 5 scorers in the league, and the 2nd best defensive player in league (behind at the time Ben Wallace) in Camby.

you are failing to address Emirical evidence that Carmello is a "lock down defender" and instead just stating the opinions of a few select samples of people.

For Example: compare Kobe's numbers and %s when he was guarded by Ron Artest, vs Carmello.
