Lets get this show on the road, season 21, Pants Down review!

Something different this season, we've actually drawn a bloody ABBL relegate, something we've been lucky to avoid when the opportunity has arisen previously. So that means we'll kick of with the one whose reputation proceeds him, the infamous Sid Vicious!

Big 8 Newbies:

ABBL Relegate:
Hopelessy Addicted - Manager: Sid Vicious - For anyone that doesn't know, this is the guy that pulled off one of the most infamous last minute buy ins of all time! I'll recap just so everyone's up to speed on this. Back in season 15, HA had drawn very little attention and had been a ghost. Heading into the ASG, they had a record of 6-7 and looked nothing special. Shortly after the ASG Sid made the first of a couple of huge purchases, brining in 3 players adding up to $443k in wages. This seemed like madness and HA looked all but certain to go bankrupt. Somehow though they managed to pull it off and drove all the way to the ABBL, putting the 2nd last nail in Beechy's coffin. He then relegated the following year after only just avoiding losing his team all together but after learning from initial mistakes, bounced straight up again and spent the last 3 seasons battling the best. Though he is anything but quiet these days, Sid is highly rumoured to be sitting on mounds of cash after tanking out of the ABBL. One tip i've learned is that you can trust NOT to trust much of what Mr Vicious says. This guy will pour poison in your ear and destroy you at the first given opportunity. Don't get me wrong I have respect for this manager but don't ever tell me you weren't warned! As for his team, well honestly that's as bad as it will get. My money is on a similar legendary late buy in as seen before, just this time he's got the money to fund it without nearly killing himself! Go for a title at your own risk...

Div III.13 Promotee:
Awesome^.- - Manager: Sundae09 - Our first promotee is a Div II virgin and took over ownership of his team back in season 13 after numerous coaches tried and failed to put together a winning formula. Coach Sundae seems to have figured it out after taking his first title last season, finishing with a record of 21-1, losing the 2nd to last regular season game to his conference rival. For those of you that haven't been paying attention, Sundae has been busy selling off $180k of his wages for $2.7mil (don't forget $1mil promo cash too). Already he has brought in 3 brand new players, 2 of which are Div II starters, for under $1mil. Obviously a skilled businessman who we will have to just wait and see what else he has to offer. The currently lineup is topped by the 2 newest recruits, C Remigio Eduegui ($85k) and SG Brent Hargrave ($54k), both over 30. Next are two trainees who look ripe for break out seasons, a 23yo SG and 22yo PG, both in the $30k range with heaps of potential! Things fall away a little after that but if you want my tip, it's that the Big 8 has just received another competitor and there will be no easy games in the blue corner this season!

And in the red corner....

Great 8 Newbies:

Div III.8 Promotee
Coalcliff Clippers - Manager: Morgo#6: Well fancy that but Morgo#6 took over this team in season 13, same as Sundae, could this be fate? The Clips took just a season longer to reach Div III but managed to reach the nearly big leagues one shorter than Awesome. A couple of Div II noteables shared Div III.8 and Morgo has proven he can beat experiencd opposition, both Gold Nuggets (ex II.3) and Eggplantpopolopolous both having Div II experience. The Clips appear to have a very consistent side with 4 players in the $50k range, lacking only a genuine PF, should cause some headaches. There doesn't appear to be much happening on the youth perspective thought 24yo SF Vucko Šargić would have to be a focal point. With a long season ahead it's difficult to say where they'll finish up. Certainly not the worst promotee and probably looks the best in the Great 8!

Div III.14 Promotee
Raz0rBacks - Manager: Swendle - Next we have the greenest of our green this season, with a team only first arriving in season 14. Every season there does have to be one but unfortunately the Raz0rbacks look to be the up front weakest link of all the promotees. Another team coming off a 21-1 record and likely to face the biggest shock, not really much I can say but Swendle can be happy he's joined a conference with an early tanker. Last time I checked a $170k starting 5 wasn't enough to compete, considering a lot of sides feature $100k C's. Maybe the only thing Swendle can win is the battle for bottom but the Raz0rbacks will need to act fast before that's gone too!

Div III.16 Promotee
The Players - Manager: Gregc - Finally we have our last and most experienced of the new promotees. The Players have been in Div II before, back in season 18/19 with Div II.1. After relegating for a season they are now back and ready to take another crack at the best of the not ABBL best. Gregc has been leading this team since season 6, which suggests he's only just gotten serious recently or he's just not such a great manager. Guess we'll get a first hand look at the real answer this season. Youth isn't on the team's side but they do look consistent 3 worthy starters over $50k and 2 more over $30k and relatively ok bench players. 22yo PG Sławomir Korc looks to be the main trainee and has the potential to reach a level to help this team, if he's trained properly. Not my favourite of the newbies but also not my least favourite. Another team that is likely to be glad of the tanker but faces the prospect of a tough relegation game across the seas!

Second Team:
The Perth Players
Good write up, I'll fill you in a bit on my teams history, and it's future. Initially it took a little to get used to the game in div 3 and I faced some tough competition, I then did a restructure and focused on developing some good forwards for a few seasons and then became a force in my div and was a grand finalist once before winning the championship the following season. In first stint in div 2 I made up the numbers before deciding the next season to focus on trying to develop my own starting 5 over the next few seasons. Currently I'm developing pg/sg and 1 that'll become a sf basically I wanted a new challenge. Last season was pretty easy 22-0 without any serious challenger,

I appreiated the effort in your post and gave you a plus 1 for it

Couple of minor corrections though.

one of the most infamous last minute buy ins of all time!
Hardly last minute I carried their salaries for about 6 or 7 weeks

putting the 2nd last nail in Beechy's coffin
What was the last nail? - I thought I broke his heart

Though he is anything but quiet these days
I type and dont speak

One tip i've learned is that you can trust NOT to trust much of what Mr Vicious says
I dont tell lies, but have been known to use a little bit of gamesmanship

This guy will pour poison in your ear
???? Surely the Poison would do more damage if I could get people to drink it

As for his team, well honestly that's as bad as it will get
Wish I could get odds on that

My money is on a similar legendary late buy in as seen before
No challenge for me, if I was just to do that

Go for a title at your own risk...
Happy for you all to sell up your rosters and let me waltz through

sitting on mounds of cash
Not over keen on heights

My plans for the season will depend on who I decide to train

There are 2 more experienced Managers than myself in this league and Avalon Jets trainees are more developed than mine

And it starts already, poison people, take it in at your own risk!

I did state that you'd purchased in your 3 stars just after the ASG, so people can read the rest how they like. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story, isn't that the saying?

I like how you are always boosting up Corio and Hads but neither of them has been close to the ABBL in a few of seasons, Hadders made a cameo in S18 and Avalon relegated in S16, along with you in your first peak at ABBL. The TL has changed quite a bit since they both graced the ABBL and neither has tasted the additional funds that come with it. Back in their original ABBL days, training up home grown stars was the difference, now you can purchase them in at very little cost. I know you like talking yourself down but we all know what you are capable of this season and it's very difficult to believe you won't be striving to attack for the ABBL this season. Trainees who are primed don't match up to $250k stars that the money you currently command can buy. Just my opinion.
