Outta the Cup Tournament (OCT)

Out of your national tournament? Lost your first round cup game unexpectedly? Don't despair, the "Out the Cup Tournament" is here for you.

This tournament will be organized like the FA Cup, with several preliminary rounds leading up to the tournament proper.

Each week after your country's cup matches, you have the chance to enter the OCT, announcing your intention in this thread. Signups can begin now. Each round, signups will close when Saturday's games start in the USA (8pm ET).

A random draw among the enlisted teams will be conducted to determine the following week's matches. Home and away will also be randomly determined.

You have until Tuesday's USA game time(8pm ET) to set up your game. Both teams are responsible for setting up the game properly, so either team can challenge the other. If your opponent fails to respond, books another scrimmage, or otherwise BBmail me or post in this thread.

If you win, you move on and will be entered in the following week's random draw. Lose, and you're out.
Each week, the new teams knocked out of their national cups will have the opportunity to join the OCT.

The prelims continue through Round 7 of the national cups.

The first round of the tournament proper (Round 8 of the national cups) will field up to 64 teams facing off during the final six weeks of the season. Hoping this can get enough traction after several weeks to have a field that large.

We'd crown the OCT champion along with the national tournament champions in the final week of the season.

Signups can begin now…and will run through Saturday night (8pm ET). The first preliminary round will be held in Round 3 of the National Cup.

But wouldn't be better to hold something like a group play? Because teams that lose in OCT probably cannot play in OOCTT (Out of Out of the Cup Tournament Tournament). We had a tourney like this in Slovenia and it was cool, because you were guaranteed at least 2-3 games even if you lost.

I'm open to any and all ideas. As it is now, mine is the only team showing interest.

People tried to tell you...

If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.

Yep, people don't seem to get it.

I've seen this type of tournament work in other online games. It's odd that no one in BB seems to want to glom onto it. Seems like an easy way to ensure you get scrimmages, and get your training minutes.

Please consider 2 facts.

1) People on BB love to complain about everything.
2) There are 0 threads complaining about the "finding a scrimmage" epidemic you seem so worried about.

Fill your scrimmage list with 7 people. Invite them to scrim you both home and away. One will accept.

If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.

Yes, there are plenty of ways to get a scrimmage. I usually use the Click Around the Map and Challenge the Online Teams Method (CAMCOTM). You seem to prefer the Fill Your Scrimmage List With Home and Away Challenge Method (FYSLWHACM).

I think having a Out of the Cup Tournament (OCT) might be a better way. Arguably more fun, too. But not more fun than making up acronyms.
