Its the beginning of a new era in good old Syracuse, New York!!

Always known as a basketball town, the city of Syracuse will now host an expansion Buzzerbeater team, the Syracuse Orangemen!! Long-time local college coach Jim Boeheim will take the reins as head coach, leaving his comfortable niche in college basketball for the unknown perils of Buzzerbeater. A press conference was held earlier today to introduce the team and the coach. Boeheim tempered expectations, telling the crowd,
"Im not saying this is the worst team Ive ever coached...but Im not NOT saying that either."

Boeheim also stated that there would be an effort to develop and acquire homegrown players. It is unclear whether this effort to "Americanize" the team has anything to do with the reports that came out after his departure from the college game, claiming that a Saudi Arabian player was subjected to random TSA style security checks while at Syracuse, even once in his dormitory at 4am, during which his American girlfriend was asked several times if the player was holding her against her will, according to the report. When asked, Boeheim declined comment rather angrily, though he did mention that the Arab player was overheard several times mentioning that his dormitory was "the bomb"

Regardless of his past, Boeheim brings untold know-how to the court and a keen eye for talent. This will be an exciting upcoming draft, as it will likely decide the direction of this franchise for the long run. The Orange Times will be with you every step of the way, keeping you up to date.

Welcome to the game! I hope your Orangemen finish the season strong P.S. It looks like you have a pretty decent rookie in Rivas, so i would look at trying to find some help on how to train him.

The future has arrived!

It didn't take long for the Orangemen to make headlines, signing highly touted prospect Jeffrey Rivas to a multi-year deal this morning. Rivas, a 6'4" guard from Miami, is expected to contribute at SF while he learns the ins and outs of running the point. Said Boeheim, "Im excited about the kid. Our scouts have told me that he can dribble with both hands without stopping to switch, and a few of them even saw him dribble it between his legs in practice. So it will be a definite upgrade wherever we put him on the court."
It was an exciting morning, as construction crews rolled in to the Carrier Dome to begin the first of a series of expansions to modernize and grow the facility. New additions will include water fountains, a 100% water-proof ceiling, and a digital scoreboard to replace the manual one that has been a staple at the Carrier Dome since 1918.
The Orangemen play their inaugural game on the road against the Amazing Highflyers 2.0. We will be here to report on the results of that game and the highly anticipated debut of Rivas.

Hahaha yes I do thanks for the advice! I actually got the idea for this from The Eagle and the Laser Limelight. Looked like a fun way to be a part of the community, especially because no one is active in my division. So thanks for being my inspiration lol :)

Orangemen beat Amazing Highflyers 102-84(OT)


The final score does not indicate the excitement this game provided. In their first ever game, the Orangemen pulled out to an early lead, holding an 11 point lead at the half. The Amazing Highflyers, however, would chip away at that lead all through the second half, finally tying the game with under a minute to go to force an extra period. Led by Ross O'Rourke, the Orange would score first in the OT period and never look back, outscoring their opponent 20-2 and sealing up Boeheim's first career Buzzerbeater win. When asked where this victory stood up against his over 800 college wins, Boeheim responded,
"It's up there without a doubt. To come in and open up our franchise with a win like that was awesome. We wanted to set the tone tonight. We wanted to show everybody that this team was not to be overlooked, and I think they did exactly that.

Future star Jeffrey Rivas' debut left something to be desired, scoring 15 pts on 25 shots. He did show flashes of the versatility that scouts love about him, dishing 9 assists and grabbing 14 rebs. Boeheim commented afterwards,
"You guys act dissapointed in him. The kid almost posted a triple-double in his very first game. The shot will come. Im extremely impressed with his performance."

The team also found a floor general in PG Jorge Landry. The veteran had a brilliant game, posting 37 points and 11 helpers. His leadership showed throughout the game, barking orders on defense throughout the game, and rallying his teammates before the OT period. Rivas commented on his leadership in the post game press conference:
"Landry was great. Some of us were definitely rattled when they came back and Landry just reminded us that we had been outplaying this team all night. He definitely deserves a lot of the credit for the way we played tonight.

Other bright spots included Albert Marshall scoring an efficient 17 points. O'Rourke added 15, 10 of which came in the OT period. The Orangemen finish up this two game road trip Saturday against Tha Pride, in a nationally televised game. Until then, this is Hakim Warrick reporting for the Orange News.

Congrats on the exciting win bro! Also nice job on picking up that 18 year old rookie from India he looks like a good trainee. Now you have two decent trainees so if you need help on training them at all I (and other managers) are here to help you. ;)

Yeah I actually got a very convenient situation there. I plan to train him alongside Rivas, so start with his inside stuff and then move out. So when its all said and done I should end up with a PG with good secondaries and a pretty well balanced SF. Thats the plan at least lol
