I am just getting back into the BuzzerBeater Community. I was wondering if there's been any changes to the scouting for the draft? I know about the 2 newer options after the all-star break, but what i am asking is whether or not there's any REAL strategy to who to scout or do you just click down as many of the guys as you can in the course of the season and HOPE to get Lucky??? Any help is appreciated! thank you

ya, thats pretty much how it goes down, even if u spend the max I dont think theres any way u can scout everyone. The scouting combine (takes 10 pts) is nice because at least u get a measurement of all the players and can get rid of all the 19yo, as theres no pt drafting them, so I like that option. Other than that u just gotta pick players by luck and scout.

Lots of good players are originally listed as 1 or 2 ball, so don't waste all ur pts on 5 ball players, pick from the whole list. The other main option, group demonstration (also costs 10 pts) will let u scout all the 1 and 2 ball players, so even though it costs a lot and maybe half those players will be 19yo, u get to scout 20 players for the price of 10 if that makes sense. Some managers dont like that option because of the 19yo players, you might find 10 or so players, so ends up being the same as scouting individually, so Id say do the scouting combine, move all the 18yo to the top and scout as many of the 18yos as u can. Either way make sure the 19yo are all below as theres no pt drafting them...

Guessing randomly has worked really well for me personally this season but i do not suggest it I have used only 9 points and I already have a 5/3 18 year old and a 5/4 18 year old.

This is my strategy his season as well. I figure if I have an opportunity to win my league I need the extra cash to pay players to ensure promotion. Pick my number and my lucky numbers and jumble the rest, hope to dig a all-time. I would think 3 star guys would be less recruited, which would be the best opportunity to pull one of these players.

Good plan I feel the same way. I am perfectly happy if I get a rookie with good skills and only allstar potential (star is pushing it a little though) So whenever i have had lower draft picks the past few seasons, ive been looking for those 5/3 guys that fly under the radar. This season i think i will have the 5th-8th pick in the draft so im hoping to grab my 5/4 A+ dude But my 5/3 number two choice is a good backup to have just in case

Since we r talking about drafting/training, how old should a HOF pop? I have a 24yo HOF who Id like to get a few extra pops, but from what I hear players will pop at the latest at 24-25, so with a HOF should he pop at least a couple times?

I think he still has a lot of pops in him... With Hall Of Famers i think you can get them to still be popping at 26 but it just goes slower.

I have two point guards that are 27 that still pop occasionally. One has MVP potential and the other perennial all-star potential. The pops are not as frequent but can still be made even into the 30's. It just will not be as frequent as a younger guy which makes sense.

Just in this whole discussion, I want to clarify that potential makes absolutely no difference in how fast a player will pop at a given age. A 24 year old Hall of Famer will not pop any faster than a 24 year old allstar, assuming neither player is capped. Some of these comments sound like you think the higher potential will help the player pop faster, and that isn't the case.

It only affects how long you can train him, right??

Kind of. It's all about the cap--it would take a HOF player longer to hit his cap than it would take for a star player. But it's not a matter of how long you train a player, it's a matter of what skills you train relative to the cap. You can train a superstar potential player and cap them out by the end of their 21yo season by pushing their most cap-heavy primaries, or you can train a balanced SF and train them until they're 25-26 without capping. For example, think of the difference between Marshall Ray this year ($12K salary) and Bud Saldana last year ($100K salary). But yes, in most cases a higher potential will mean you can train a player longer.
