I've scouted a 5/5 A Rated 18 year old. He is a guard, and I have first shot in the draft.

Since I've never really ever scouted before my question is this: What is the worst he could possibly be? Am I looking at a guaranteed prodigy or could he still end up being full of holes and not even worth a million?

Guaranteed Prodigy. An A rating must be he had a good game and a 5/5 means he'll have 4500+ salary and 9+ potential.

I understand the basics of scouting, I'm not still in D5.

I'm looking to find a little more about the prices these guys sell for. Specifically if any have had one or two randomly lower skills that have dropped the market prices dramatically.

I know your not in D5

His price will depend on height and potential, but it's most likely you'll get 900k+ for him. I don't think one or two lower skills will drop the price dramatically, but it depends on height.

Given the way skills affect salary, he could definitely still have some holes.

For example, if he's listed as an SG, then he could possibly have 1 passing, and possibly weak HA/DR. That would certainly adversely affect his value.

If he's listed as a PG, then it's possible he get stuck with lower JS/JR/OD.

Then of course, the inside skills are important, yet not reflected in player salary. The difference between 1 IS/1ID and 5 IS/5ID is huge. Then there's rebounding, which contributes to salary on all positions, yet probably isn't valued on the TL.

Still, chances are that your draftee will be solid, but there's a big difference between a draftee worth 300K and 1 million.

There is no way to tell until you see him. Height plays a big part but so does his skill set. He could be seen by most as not worth training with a couple of skills way off. But then if he has a good even skill set he could be worth bucket loads of cash.

It's also possible he'll have high rebound and that cost a lot on salary.

So the 5 ball skill rating is based purely off of salary? I had the impression it was calculated from their skill set, I guess they're closely related, but still.
