maybe not helpfull anymore for the 2 you missed because of this, but...
if you see a good player you realy want next time, don't wait, but just imediatly bid the price you want to spend on him.
this has 2 positives: 1 if the site goes down afterwards, you still have your bid on him, and if someone would outbid, it is a sign you wouldn't have een able to buy him for your intended money anyway.
and secondly, by doing this you probably scare a lot of other bidders away and you might avoid a bid war which only would make him more expensive...
There are also downsides, but in case you realy want the player this is truely the best way to act...
