This guy was 5 Star/4 star Potential/ A+ in my scouting report. I see he has some shooting skills but is this guy a bust or should I train him?

I would train for now. With his current skills, he wouldn't fetch you much money on the transfer list. To start off, I would get his Outside Defense to strong. Next up, I would train Passing. This depends on if you want him to be a PG or SG. For PG, strong (8) PA would be my short term aim. For an SG, I would try to get respectable (7). After that, 1v1 Guards should be trained to get his Handling and Driving higher. Respectable or strong would also be good aims for those skills. After that, rotate between OD, PA and 1v1. Since he is an 18 YO, he should get about 12-15 pops this season, barring any injuries. Don't forget to 1-position train everything except Jump Shot, which, at best, can only be 2-position trained. During weeks where you only play 2 games, Jump Shot training would be a good idea. After his 18 YO season is finished, he may look like this:

9 7
10 7
7 8
2 5
2 1
4 4

Yep, I picked up a Superior Trainer recently so I guess Ill train him out. Maybe his unseen ratings are high so I can start the season off with some pops. I think the first few weeks I will do 1v1 though since I have 4 trainees currently. After 3 training sessions or so I will sell 1 of them and go to single position training at that time.

Thats actually a pretty good snag. Not sure if he could make the U21 team, but he could be a very good player for you going forward.

Big Dogs gave you some good advice. Since you are in division V, you can afford bringing up the DR/HA to par with 1v1 first instead of OD or PA right away. It sounds like you know what you are doing.

Good luck!

I strongly suggest training either 1 on 1 for guards or even better, Handling for PG which will pop blazingly fast. You would probably get 5-6 pops in 7 weeks, boosting DR and a bit of OD on the way. The main purpose is of course negating the negative elastic effect that comes with such low handling.

This guy is a bust. Not only does he lack handling, passing, driving, inside shot, rebounding - he has NO stamina and can't hit a freethrow.

Fixing his stamina and FT skill will take you 1.5 seasons alone.

4 in stamina and FT is decent.

Don't apply your wrong perception of FT and Stamina on others. Btw, Inept FT means he will hit more than 50% of his free throws, which is far from "can't hit a freethrow". Btw, I'd really like to hear what's your definition of good FT and Stamina. If you spend 1.5 seasons training FT and Stamina with this guy, you will reach Proficient Stamina and Prominent FTs. Knowing rookies can't start with more than ST 7 and FT 8, I wonder what criteria you use to evaluate a rookie.

This guy is a bust. Not only does he lack handling, passing, driving, inside shot, rebounding - he has NO stamina and can't hit a freethrow.

RB and IS are welcome addition on a guard, but are not indispensable. Passing is at 4 which is not that bad as a rookie. HA and DR hurts, but those train fast in 1 on 1 while trained as secondaries to all guard trainings (pressure, passing, JS, JR).

To sum all up: a terrible advice. Normally I don't try to correct people in their opinions if they are wrong, but it bothers me when wrong facts are being taught to others. It seems like the only good rokie for you is one with all skills between 6 and 7 (and that rookie obviously has to spend a least one season training only ST and FT), so good luck finding one.

Thanks a ton! I will work on him and maybe he will pay off in the long run.
