MVP Votes (Round 1)

Game 1: Home Axis v Moorditj Magick (55372901)

With Home Axis in rebuild mode and the Magick in tanking mode this was never going to be a titanic clash. After the 1st quarter nothing separated them. A big 26-9 2nd quarter gave the Magick 17 point lead at half time. From there on in it was all Home Axis as they rallied to almost steal the win. The Magick with a 6 point win.

3 votes: L. Duvancic (C) 24 pts, 20 reb 14.5 rating
2 votes: J. Dogan (SG) 19 pts, 8 reb 13.0 rating
1 vote: M. Monroy (PF) 17 pts, 17 reb 11.0 rating

Game 2: Los Coolfreakz El’ Ninios v UWA Panthers (55372902)

There was nothing sexy about Brooksy’s boys 9 point win over the Coolfreakz. They did score when it mattered though as the scores were level going into the last quarter before the Panthers piled on 32 to secure the win.

3 votes: S. Kurylak (PF) 27 pts, 20 reb and 8 blocks 13.0 rating
2 votes: S. Tragter (PG) 26 pts, 4 asts 12.0 rating
1 vote: A. Dougan (SF) 26 pts, 4 reb 8.0 rating (gets 1 vote with slightly better FG% than others)

Game 3: Baxter Bogans v Geelong Vipers (55372903)

The Vipers had too much venom for the Bogans in this one. A comfortable 22 point win over the tanking Bogans.

3 votes: B. Greger (SG) 17 pts in 26 min (7/10 FG%) (50% 3pt shooting) 13.0 rating
2 votes: J. Tesone (PF) 16 pts, 16 reb 14.0 rating
1 vote: H. Bertens (PG) 8 pts, 11 asts, 8 reb 13.5 rating (had a toughr opponent and almost triple double performance)

Game 4: Whompas Donkeys v Shepparton shooters (55372904)

Ezy got the tactics right and Whompa’s choice of a 3-2 defense against a LI made this game closer than it should have been. A solid second half allowing the Donkeys to pull away and claim a 14 point win.

3 votes: X. Weipeng (C) 32 pts, 16 reb 12.0 rating
2 votes: B. Asqhari (SG) 26 pts 12.0 rating
1 vote: J. Viojan (PF) 21 pts, 9 reb 13.5 rating

Game 5: TeamAkuma v Western Titans (55372905)

The much anticipated matchup between Udi v Smeltz was declared a draw with both big men factors in their teams results. And despite an impressive 23 points by Abimbola in a LI offense, TeamAkuma couldn’t maintain the pace as the Titans won the second half and the match by 12 points.
Very hard to split votes between 5 players (most had a number of TOs, most had poor shooting nights with no-one standing out from the rest):

3 votes: R. B. Filho (PF) 21 pts, 13 reb 14.5 rating
2 votes: K. Smeltz (C) 23 pts, 13 reb 13.0 rating
1 vote: C. Abimbola (SG) 23 pts, 4 asts 13.5 rating

Special mention: Muggleton shot well but over a lesser opponent and Udi was allowed a mere 11 shots by Smeltz.

Game 6: JW City Bulls v Vios Violationers (55372906)

The Bulls had way too much fire power for the Violationers in this one. Despite the Violationers attempt to slow it down with a Patient offense, the Bulls scored easily running out 24 point winners.

3 votes: J. Vulcan (PG) 20 pts, 6 asts (9/11 FG% and 2/2 3FG%) in 29 minutes 14.0 rating
2 votes: A. Armstrong (SF) 20 pts, 7 reb (8/10 FG%) 10.5 rating
1 vote: R. Sibley (C) 22 pts, 19 reb 13.0 rating

MVP Votes (Round 2)

Game 1: Vios Violationers v TeamAkuma (55372912)

The classic inside v outside game with the game close, tight until the third. TeamAkuma shutting out the Div II debutants by limiting them to a mere 8 points in the 4th while piling on 23 to win by 20.

3 votes: C. Abimbola (SG) 29 pts (5/9 3FG%), 5 reb, 4 asts 15.0 rating
2 votes: R. Sibley (C) 26 pts, 15 reb 13.0 rating
1 vote: K. Smeltz (C) 12 pts, 20 reb 14.5 rating (got 1 vote despite 5 TOs on account of opponent)

Game 2: Western Titans v Geelong Vipers (55372910)

A tight player-on-player contest which saw both teams struggle to score. In fact, neither team could manufacture a 20 point quarter throughout the game. In the end though, the Titans’ defense tightened up and they earned a 15 point win against the venomous Vipers.

3 votes: U. Samdup (C) 17 pts, 26 reb (6OR) 15.0 rating
2 votes: B. Filho (PF) 19 pts, 8 reb 16.0 rating
1 vote: M. Gaggini (SG) 12 pts, 10 reb 15.0 rating

Game 3: Los Coolfreakz El’ Ninios v Home Axis (55372907)

This game seemed over at 3 quarter time but a woeful 5 point quarter by Home Axis in the final term made the Coolfreakz look good.

3 votes: M. Monroy (PF) 20 pts, 16 reb 11.0 rating
2 votes: F. Medina Esquivel (C) 11 pts, 18 reb 11.5 rating
1 vote: W. Xinxuan (SG) 6 pts, 6 reb, 3 asts, 3 stls 11.5 rating

Game 4: JW City Bulls v Whompas Donkeys (55372911)

A great contest between two strong teams didn’t disappoint. However, the Donkeys went inside with Vino and Santana and Santana met a wall named Dayneko. The $120k PF was the difference as the Bulls won by 14 points.

3 votes: A. Dayneko (PF) 28 pts, 16 reb 16.0 rating
2 votes: F. Vino (C) 18 pts, 14 reb 14.0 rating
1 vote: A. Armstrong (SF) 14 pts, 8 reb (7/10 FG%) 11.5 rating

Game 5: Moorditj Magick v Baxter Bogans (55372908)

Two tankers collided in this one. However, several of the Bogans were still knocking back pints at the Tavern when the team bus left. Despite knocking back a few himself (although he managed to get on the bus in time), Tesone came to play. He and Magick big man, Duvancic, had a fierce battle in the paint. However, while the big men went at it, Magick Captain, Marcello “Hot Rod” Rodriguez took advantage of having no direct opponent, piling on 43 points and hitting 7 from downtown. The Magick with a 47 point win.

3 votes: J. Tesone (PF) 40 pts, 23 reb (9OR) 15.5 rating
2 votes: L. Duvancic (PF) 22 pts, 22 reb 14.5 rating
1 vote: M. Rodriguez (SG) 43 pts, 10 asts, 4 reb 16.0 rating

Game 6: Shepparton shooters v UWA Panthers (55372909)

It could be argues that neither team got their defensive tactics right in this one. As a result it was a tight affair for three quarters before the shooters, 6 points down going into the final quarter, erupted in the final term and outscoring a shocked Panther outfit 33-12 to run out winners by 15 points.

3 votes: S. Tragter (PG) 23 pts (8/23 FG%), 4 reb, 4 asts 11.5 rating
2 votes: N. Ratliff (PG) 26 pts (10/18 FG%), 4 asts 8.5 rating (against much better opponent)
1 vote: L. Jiankai (SG) 28 pts, 5 reb, 5 asts 10.5 rating

Ok, Brooksy. will have another look when I've got time.

Apart from your response it's clear that the Fishbowl is clearly suffering from a lack of interest at the moment. Shame.

Having said that you did pick up seven balls. That tells you a lot of people are reading and appreciating what you have done even if they aren't posting.

MVP Votes (Round 3)

Game 1: Home Axis v Baxter Bogans (55372913)

Well, the Bogans managed to leave the bar and board the bus this week. Despite the slow offense of Home Axis, the Bogans were too hard to stop inside with Tesone and Harrower just too good. Sure, Monroy did admirably against Harrower and Jesic helped out from the point but this game was decided in the paint. The Bogans eeking out an 8 point win.

3 votes: J. Tesone (BAX) (C) 26 pts, 19 rbs in 39 min 15.0 rating
2 votes: S. Harrower (BAX) (PF) 21 pts, 10 rbs, 3asts, 3 blks 13.0 rating
1 vote: I. Jesic (HA) (PG) 23 pts, 8 asts, 6 rbds 12.5 rating

Special mention to Monroy who had 20 pts, 15 rbs (8OR) in 48 mins. Only 5 Tos cost him the vote.

Game 2: Los Coolfreakz El’ Ninios v shepparton shooters (55372914)

While the Coolfreakz have an evenly balanced team they were no match for the shooters who won every quarter and keeping the Coolfreakz to single digit scores in two of the four quarters. The two big men, V-thrush and X-Factor were once again unstoppable combining for 51 of the 84 points scored by the shooters. A comfortable 37 point win for Ezy’s lot.

3 votes: X. Weipeng (SHE) (C) 25 pts, 19 rbs 14.5 rating
2 votes: J. Viojan (SHE) (PF) 26 pts, 19 rbs (8OR) 15.0 rating (but 6 TOs!)
1 vote: A. Dougan (LOS) (SF) 15 pts, 4 rbs 9.0 rating

Game 3: Vios Violationers v Geelong Vipers (55372917)

The Vipers with another sound win, this time over the Violationers. The Vipers won every quarter to cruise to a 29 point win. Should be a great contest between the Vipers and the Donkeys next Friday.

3 votes: H. Bertens (GEE) (PG) 29 pts, 8 asts 16.5 rating
2 votes: R. Sibley (VIO) (C) 18 pts (7/14 FG%), 10 rbs 14.0 rating
1 vote: J. Norman (GEE) (SG) 18 pts 14.0 rating (had a weaker opponent so only gets the 1)

Special mention: there were a few contributors who could have picked up votes. S. Brkljac and Fernandez combined to stop the Vios’s big man, Sibley; and the Vipers’s SF, Diez de Escoron was perfect from the field and had a solid 10 pts and 10 rbs for 29 minutes)

Game 4: Whompas Donkeys v TeamAkuma (55372918)

Game of the round this encounter. Both teams went inside and despite another great game from the legend that is Smeltz, the Donkeys, through Vino and Santana held firm winning by 12 points.

3 votes: K. Smeltz (TA) (C) 30 pts (13/21 FG%), 11 rbs 16.0 rating
2 votes: F. Vino (WHO) (C) 19 pts (8/17 FG%), 13 rbs (4OR) 13.5 rating
1 vote: C. Abimbola (TA) (SG) 21 pts (10/23FG%) 16.5 rating

Game 5: Moorditj Magick v Western Titans (55372915)

Well, the Titan juggernaut rolled on and remains undefeated after sweeping aside the Magick. The scoreline (97-82) flattered the Magick who only managed to regain some credibility in the final quarter. The 15 point win means the Titans remain undefeated in the East.

3 votes: R. B. Filho (WES) (PF) 23 pts, 17 rbs (5OR) and 5 asts 17.0 rating
2 votes: U. Samdup (WES) (C) 21 pts (10/16FG%), 8 rbs 15.0 rating
1 vote: J. Dogan (MGK) (SG) 34 pts, 7 rbs, 4 asts 15.0 rating

Game 6: JW City Bulls v UWA Panthers (55372916)

A painful encounter that saw the Bulls repeatedly drive their horns into a very un-sexy Panther outfit. Outgunned in all positions, this turned ugly quick as the Bulls remained atop of the ladder in the East with a 64 point win.

3 votes: J. Vulcan (JW) (PG) 30 pts (12/18 FG% and 2/3 3FG%) and 5 steals 16.0 rating
2 votes: A. Dayneko (JW) (PF) 19 pts, 16 rbs (7OR) in 27 mins 18.5 rating (inferior opponent)
1 vote: A. Pogliaghi (JW) (C) 11 pts, 12 rbs in 28 mins 16.0 rating
