The Season 22 Awards, Presented by IBM
It's time for the II.3 Awards.
Presented by IBM. (Also sponsors of the popular "NBBA Behind the Numbers " series. See here:
(200205.306) )
Supercomputers have been running calculations all season and the following has been determined:
Manager of the Season/Year: w_alloy.
(28218) With a combined team payroll of only $223k -- less than some individual players make -- Valhalla has managed to start the season with a record of 9-9. And would make the playoffs if the season ended today! Outstanding job. (This is how BB
should be played.)
Comeback Player of the Season/Year: Kristjan Aaring
(13547814). For coming all the way back from Poland to score 2 points in a meaningless all-star game. Making the trip as a backup... What dedication!
Message from IBM:
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pNGO5ppfQ8)Foreigner Poster of the Season/Year: SaulTNuts
(28378). Making the trek all the way from Division II.4 to share his or her feelings and insights. It was most appreciated.
Most Valuable Player: Tõnis Alas
(8856826). 25.7 PPG, 16.7 RPG, 2.8 Blocks, 63.7% FG percentage, 17.7 rating. #1 in all those categories plus 2nd in the league in steals. Former NBBA all-star & MVP as an SF, his numbers would be staggering if purely played at center.
Least Valuable Player: Tie: Douglas Chavis
(16289396) of Anoymous, & Burl Boudreau
(27249545) of Upsyndrome. Chavis has a league low average player rating of 1.0, while averaging 1.4 PPG & 1.4 RPG in just over 9 min per game. The computerized coach has even refused to sub him in for Storm Bonds
(27249521) each of the past 2 games! Meanwhile, Boudreau has the lowest average efficiency rating in the league at -2.4. He averages only 1.4PPG & 2.5 RPG, in 28 min per game.
And now what you've all been waiting for:IBM League Champions: Kentucky Wildcats
(28613). I hereby declare the Kentucky Wildcats the legitimate champions of II.3! And with that, award them the II.3 IBM championship for Season 22. A monster, yet salary efficient team since day 1, they've managed to take care of business despite never having played their best lineup due to training necessities. As I stated in another thread, "Discipline + delayed gratification... America needs more you!"
