As I am in a low division with a lot of bots, I though I might as well turn myself to training while in the next 2-3 seasons I'll be around.

I intend to start with my next draftees.

If something explaining what I ask already exists I apologise as I couldn't find and and please point me to it.

So questions first:

In order of importance what are the things I must look at? Star Rating, Scouted game scores, Grade, Age, Height/Position.
(Something like an ordered list or like, StarRating->Grade->Age->So on would be appreciated)

I have a lot of 5 Star Rating players scouted with very bad game scores, would he be a good trainee non the less if he is A+ grade with right height for position?

And post also general tips to help me and other players decide how to organize our draft.

Thanks in advance!

im not an expert but to help i would do Scouting combine and look for 18 yo guards or bigs depend on wat position u want. and this should leave i guess 10-15 players left. and then i would scout them to see whos atleast good and interview the best ones.

Also not a big expert but here goes (from my experience)

Almost always use scouting combine (can't think of when not to use it). This gives you ages and height of players. Then look at the 18 year olds as they are best to train. If you wanna train big guys, look for 18 year old tall guys, and vice versa for guards.

I don't know how efficient this is, but I've been told you can use group demonstration in conjunction with scouting combine. However the condition is that there has to be at least 10 draftees who are 18 years old within the 1-2 ball prospects, this makes it essentially scouting 10 or more 18 year olds for the price of 10. Then do your interviews. This is where hit and miss kinda comes in. Star rating can go from 5 to 2 and 2 to 5 after the interview.

All in all, generally you go

Age -> height (if you want a specific position trainee) -> potential -> star rating -> grade rating

I've always wondered whats the difference between star rating and grade rating. I don't have 100% answer, but from what I've read in forum posts, star rating are the starting skill levels while grade rating are the sub-levels of the skills.
E.g. star rating indicates the skill is 'Respectable' which is 7 but the grade rating A+ indicates it's has a value of 7.8 rather than 7.2

Personally.... And I haven't had good draft pick standings, but personally..... I find it easier to do the combine, maybe the demo if there are at least 10 1-2 ball ppl at 18 years old. And then organize the 18 by height that work for who/what kind of player I am looking for. I then scout out all such players. I rarely interview as this allows me to have points rollover and save them to interview for when I find myself in a draft position to make bank.

I also have an unproven theory that the fancier the box score on the person the worse his potential

That's why I line them up by my gut. Also I haven't had better than 10th pick in any draft. So I personally am not always lining up the highest ball guys first. Unless you have a great pick and that security sense it is a crap shoot anyways.

Odds are almost as equal drafting player #26 1st every year

Wouldn't it be better to pick for example a very tall PG with high potentia (4+) and star rating (5) and then train him a a Center or PF? So you have decent secondary skills from the bat.

Erm.. I think you misread what I said, I never spoke about their assigned positions. I just said to pick the height based off the position you want to train. ie 6'0" for guard or 7'0"+ for big.
