Some believe that this game is not only for the Great 8 Championship, but that its really like the league championship with the best 2 teams in the league facing off. This game pits the top 2 scoring teams against each other, and they also have the the 2 highest payrolls in the league.

Earlier in the season, Arizona scratched and clawed to hang with Reston on the road, pulled within 2 points late in the game, before Reston pulled away for a 9 point win, and what proved to be Arizona's only loss of the season. Later in the season, Reston did the same at Arizona, fighting to keep it close, pulling within 2 points late, only to see Arizona pull away late for a 9 point win.

All of this was before Reston added a monster Big at the end of the season. Will newly acquired Reston Center Narzario Ortega be the difference and allow Reston to win and have their shot at heading back to the NBBA, or will Arizona's Home court advantage and defensive edge be the difference in this one?

LOL, afraid not ;) I don't think I have hid the fact, I am in it to win it this season ;)

Should be a great game....I was already nervous before Reston added tthe big, so now I am really going to have to sweat this out. I haven't lost many games at home in my BB Career, so praying that HCA is enough to overcome Reston's great team.

Yep could be a good game for sure. That big he added makes this a nice game. Of course, you get the edge at home but his starters are nice:

Top 5 salaries: AZ 644k, RT 583
6-10: AZ 110k, RT 130k

and I can't believe the drop-off after you two (with still some really good teams), so good luck to you both.

holy crap: Reston has THREE "key players" -- one of which is a SF with game ratings in the upper teens, which i never dreamed possible. Arizona has a $100,000 "rotation player". these squads are ridiculous.

combined with the yin-yang matchup of Toys and USA Elite, this is a most interesting league and set of games.

best of luck to one and all -- and i feel sorry for the rest of you guys.

I was actually bidding on Monda at the beginning of the year before Reston got him. To say that he's worth every dollar of that salary is probably an understatement.

Lorenzo Bland wins the League MVP Award!! He had this to say "Nice honor, but it won't mean anything unless we win the championship! I have been coasting all season, now the fun begins!"

He's a humble guy ;)

There's been a lot of talk about who will win the II.4 playoffs with regard to player talent, manager skill, game shape, enthusiasm, HCA, etc. All that's just noise though because all we need to do is look at the fan bases of the four remaining squads. In descending order we have:

World Idea Toys: 7 billion fans including over 100 countries who don't even realize they're within the scope of the Toy fan base because they do not have BuzzerBeater leagues. Perhaps this is why he doesn't sell out every home game.
USA Elite: 315 million fans if you include all U.S. citizens, however Sonny made a crucial error in designating his team as "elite," as it will turn off the large percentage of potential American fans who see themselves as average or underachieving performers or just like a good underdog.
Arizona Desert Storm: 6.5 million. Easily the greatest state within the U.S., however still operating at a sizable fanbase disadvantage to the Big 8 monsters. On a related note, how is that the league hippie isn't an official rival of the team named after a military campaign?
Reston Thumpers: Wiki describes Reston as: A census-designated place (CDP) in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States, within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area with a population of 58'404 at the 2010 Census that includes attractions such as the Reston Town Center where outside is in! http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/432362_1015061...

So with a little rounding of the raw numbers, World Idea is about 2'000 times better than USA, who is about 50 times better than Arizona, who is about 100 times better than Reston.

World Idea over Arizona in finals. You're welcome.

Off-topic, but since you advertise it...

Which one from Sportico are you? The white guy with the cowboy hat & eyeglasses from Florida? Or the mysterious no-picture guy from Virginia? Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm the white guy, but honestly I didn't even realize I had a picture on my google profile.
