I have long since faded from any activity on there and in fact I'm certain that my account is no longer active, but I remember Battrick (the cricket sim) added a second team option (I think called franchise) for their supporters. They're actually a relevant comparison because both BB and Battrick were loosely affiliated with Hattrick on startup, though I don't know how formalized the relationships were. It's a different scenario in that there are so many fewer nations in the game in BT, and that they've got at least three different league competitions going on at a time (a team would be in their regular one day league, a "first class" league and a BT 20 league that IIRC is actually international). I'm pretty certain there's someone here who's active there and can let us know how that's turned out there, though.

A few reasons why I can't support this idea that quickly come to mind:

- Policing illegal money transfers will get a little harder (unless two-team accounts are kept together and trading bidding between teams can be made impossible).
- Assuming successful managers are more likely than not-so-successful managers to buy a second team, we could end up with some managers filling up the higher divisions and locking out the dimmer-bulbed managers
- What happens if one manager ends up with two teams in the same league? Do we have to make special team shifting allowances for such teams? Will managers be able to/need to have a second team in a different country? Would that different country be selected by the manager, assigned by a GM, picked randomly?... Wouldn’t it be awful to find your country taken over by other managers’ second teams?
- Once you can have a second team, of course you’re going to want a third…
- It’s hard enough managing just one team!

I can probably come up with a bunch more reasons, but you get the idea.

On the possitive side, I can totally relate to wanting another team since I just love this game so much, too.

I don't think 3. is very far fetched.

Take Japan as an example. Not a lot of active managers, easy to get to top level league compared to being in USA.

If I was a manager able to take a team through USA to that level, than doing so through a smaller country, would be just as feasible.

I think that even if the other stuff could be worked out, the country issue is a deal breaker. Once managers are allowed to manage outside of their own country for the purpose of a second team... chaos!

If wanted a team in, say, Barbados, I could buy a second team, maybe land it in there, and then let my first team go bot. Then I'd have a team Barbados. If I paid for that second initially, I'd be pretty ticked off if I had to drop that team before dropping my first team.

If I get two teams in the same country, and I already happen to be in, say, Barbados (I'm not), and if I were a really good coach (that's debatable), odds are really good that my two teams would face each other fairly often, whether in the NT or in the same (top) league.

Philosophically, I think it's probably better for the game if managers gave their all to their one team. I was once on CSFBL (it's a baseball website, similar idea to this one) and I have to say that managing more than one team sucked a lot of the fun out of the game, in the end I could never do a decent job of managing more than one team well at any given time, so I basically would have one good team... and a bunch of mediocre teams. I'd hate to be in a league with mediocre teams with blase managers.

Let me know if you want me to come up with more reasons why I think we should stick with one-team limits.

Welcome to large percentage of current leagues in BB.

I'd be OK with the 2-team thing, but I still would rather see more competitions between players in different countries than allowing managers to sign up in any country.

If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.

Maybe instead of going into another country BB could create a country for this purpose alone. You could call the alternative, pretend country, "Utopia" or something. It would be a massive country with probably more than 6 divisions and would have the chance of being a better way of determining the best team in BB. The Cup would only allow the top however many is possible in this pretend country. It would be like BB starting over except just in one league with players already built and such.

An issue that arises though is should there be an NT for this nation with players from pretend magic land with a BB flag? With the amount of teams in this nation it would surely become champions. Languages, forums, gametimes are all problems. To solve gametimes it could just always be played at the same time as the home teams usual gametime for their original team.

I dont think there would need to be an NT for them which lessens the need for a forum for this country. However drafting in this league would turn up players from what country? The same country that the original team is from? Can BB even do that without individually changing players nationality?

I think a rule would need to be put in place where if your second team went bot, you keep your first team. If your first team went bot, you would lose the second team.

I think it would be a lot too much and I dont think it would work.

Aside from agreeing that the multiple teams and moving countries thing wouldn't work, i agree, if it were done, then this "utopia" idea is probably the only fair way to do it.
