My fighter Willie Vega has played solid minutes for my team night in and night out. I now realize that his game shape has dropped from respectable to inept since the season started. wtf is goin on here?

You need to play him a minimum of 45-48 minutes, and a max of 80.
Keep him in that range each week and his game shape should come back nicely.
He'll be even more dominant with his boards and blocks than he already is.

Note that once you get to 7 GS, there's a bit of randomness on whether you'll rise to 8 or 9, even with minutes in the range stated above.

You want to get all your players, especially your top guys, about 55-70 minutes a week. Over 80 is a real danger zone and he'll almost certainly start dropping. Start him 3 times a week so that he plays over 100 minutes and this huge drop will happen every time. This is why depth is important, the game engine doesn't let you ride a couple of star players like this.

You want to keep gameshape at a minimum of respectable but you'll notice that all the strong teams in BB keep all their players at strong-proficient. That's how you maximize their abilities.

You need to plan ahead to balance your minutes. Don't play him in scrimmages at all as they don't mean anything. If you're playing a team that you could blow out, a team you can't possibly beat or a computer run team, that's a good time to sit him too.

You have overplayed players to stay in the cup which can seem to happen. It will be easier now you are out of the cup as you don't need to play your normal starters at all in the scrimmage. Taking out minutes from the cup then minutes on your players are generally up around 70 although Vega had 82 league minutes this week which is high. Having better backups can help reduce your starters minutes.
