Can someone please explain the sim logic here? I lost one Center to injury and the other to ejection in this game. The sim then decides to rotate my guards and outside focused sf through the center spot instead of the backup PF.

Any help would be most appreciated.

I think you used Let coach decide and in it your coach randomly substitute players eg. If he want to sub your pg and its backup is playing at pf and pf's backup is playing at centre, he'll swap your pg with your pf then swap pf with centre and in this way your pg is playing at your centre.
So try to use strictly follow the depth chart.
I'm not sure that its the thing you were asking for ?

He is more likely to have used SFDC. I have had the same thing happen, when there isn't a 3rd different player as reserve it seems random who enters the game.

Yeah I always use strictly follow depth chart. In the three slots for each position I always go starter, backup, starter. The "coach" took it upon himself to place the players with the lowest Inside D in that position. It must be a flaw in the logic of the sim.

I've had the same problem happen in the past. From my experience, it seems to take a guy who isn't on the depth chart and put him in at the vacant position, there might be something to the sim engine deciding not to disrupt the rest of the lineup to fill the necessary position. Either way, I've started putting a third-stringer in over the past couple of seasons rather than starter-backup-starter. He'll really only come in during garbage time, and occasionally if foul trouble makes the two players ahead of him unavailable, but all of that is easily overlooked when a situation like the one you just had happens.

If you're interested, look at my player Kris Allen's minutes over the last two seasons. I have him as my "reserve" at PF and C every game and I don't think he's played a high-leverage minute yet where my better interior players have been available.

Wow I've been playing since season 10 and I've never seen or heard of a player being ejected until now. Pretty interesting.

Ejections are from 2 flagrant fouls, not from 6 fouls.

I understand that part of it, however it took guys that were #2 on the depth chart (PG, SG, SF) when the obvious choice would have been to put the backup PF in based on his stats.

Interesting, not sure then. My next best guess would be that it might choose the player with least minutes, but again, that's a guess at best.
