Russia. I'm freezing my balls off. Just one time can we throw Americas to the Bahamas and maybe go somewhere not cold and scary for Worlds? I got robbed twice last night.
The U21 squad kicked off this Worlds campaign with a big win over France
(24006)! The first half was hard fought, with both teams scoring at will. National traditions kicked in at halftime though. Our time-honored tradition of sabotage continued when a certain wily reporter used the halftime break to replace the French Gatorade with a mixture of Pepto Bismol and a hallucinogenic procured from the branches of a Chilean cocao tree. With the entire bench stuck in the bathroom riding unicorns, the French were on the edge. When USA big man Juan Lewis came out of the locker room doing a tribal dance from his native land of....err...Buffalo..., France's own time-honored tradition of surrender and cowardice kicked in. It was smooth sailing for the second half as the French succumbed yet again to the Russian winter.
Juan Lewis and Jared Carnes had their way inside, combining for 41 points on 19 of 26 shooting. Mark Horner several times pretended to throw the ball directly at France's guards, causing them to flinch, allowing an entry pass and also allowing Horner to deliver "two for flinching." The bruises on their shoulders visibly affected their shooting strokes. We sat down with USA PG Mark Horner after the win.
Q: 12 assists in your U21 debut. Are you the new Lucas?A: No. Lucas is the old me.
Q: After this big win, how do you feel about your chances of going far in this tournament?A: As long as Juan and Carnes dont get sent back to Chile.....err...Albany...oh Buffalo? Yeah Buffalo....we should be alright. Unrelated question, does anyone check birth certificates in this tourney?
Q: Next up is Egypt. What are your thoughts on that game? A: Are we still letting Africa into this tournament? Sigh. Idk I might play the whole game with my eyes closed to make it interesting. Bet Lucas never did that. Screw that guy.
Our Worlds campaign continues next monday at 12:30 central against Egypt. Tune in!
