Game RecapAfter going undefeated in the first two rounds, team USA drew Uruguay for the most important game of the season, the Americas Semifinal. The winner earns a ticket to the Worlds, loser goes to the do or die repechage tournament. With everything on the line, our NT manager Sleet made an important speech pregame to the players.
"Alright boys, we've got to win this one for the Queen or whoever the hell is in charge in this country, I mean our country. If you get a double double today, I'll give you season tickets to the Blue Jays and a truckload of snow. Ok Cana...USA on 3. 1! 2! 3!"
The players seemed confused by the speech, but went out and dominated the first quarter. At this point, Sleet, decided to change our tactics to 2-3 zone because "he says so." Uruguay hit 10 3 pointers and tied the game at 59 at halftime. I don't know if it was the askew handlebar mustache or the Canadian accent that gave it away, but everyone soon realized that Sleet was actually Canadian NT manager Mod-Bballin in disguise. When asked why he did it bballin said, "Priorities!! Our game vs Chile doesn't matter, I mean we beat you guys that one time, and you guys beat Chile so by bballin's theory of equality we will beat Chile, right?" When asked who is coaching the Canadian NT in their semifinal vs Chile, bballin said "Kumiko."
In a related story, Canada lost to Chile 83 to 88.
Anyway, at halftime we found Sleet tied up in a closet, his handlebar mustache had been painfully ripped off his face. Assistant coach rhyminsimon decided to leave him there, and not surprisingly the US dominated the second half winning 119-87.
Join us on Monday (6/10) as the US takes on Chile in a bragging rights game for Americas Gold. More importantly, join us next season on the offsite forum (link in signature) as the US plays in the Worlds Tournament! Congrats to Sleet and all of those who helped with the NT this season
